Easy Ways To Better Organize Your Kitchen
In today's busy lifestyle, the kitchen often gets used for more than just cooking. It is often the heart of the home and activities such as home work, bill paying, and social gathering end up taking over the space. With all that activity, how do you keep it organized? One thing you definitely need to do is organize your kitchen cabinets. You can make the most of them with a few great organizational tips.
Consider the Activities of the Kitchen
If you are going to organize those kitchen cabinets, the first thing you need to do is consider the activities that take place in the kitchen. You obviously want to keep utensils and appliances close to their relevant work space. It is important to designate a specific area for each activity that will be occuring in the kitchen- cooking, food prep, socializing, etc. Write down all the activities that you do in the kitchen area and then write down what you use for those tasks. That will give you an idea of which items will need to be handy.
Plan Out the Use for Your Cabinets
Next you need to plan out the use for your cabinets. Think about those activities ...
... and where they take place. Consider having centers or areas where certain things take place. There is an area where you wash the dishes, an area for cooking and baking, and an area where you eat and socialize. Then think about the tools used for these activities. Put items in the area that they will be used. In the area where you bake, use those cabinets for baking supplies. Keep coffee items near the coffee area and dishwashing supplies near that area of the kitchen. This way you have easy access to everything you need.
Use Organizers in the Cabinets
The easiest and fastest way to declutter is to add special organizers and racks. You can avoid having clutter with items like plate racks, organizers for spices, pull out drawers, lazy susans, tiered shelving, and more. This way you get as much as possible in the cabinets while still making it easy to access all the items.
Purge Items You Don't Need
Take out all the items you have in your cabinets. Do this one cabinet at a time so you don't get overwhelmed with everything. When you take everything out, this is the time to purge everything that you don't need. If you don't need it and you never use it, then it's time to get it out of the cabinets. It is only taking up precious space that you need to use. Then after you get rid of everything you don't need, you can put everything back in using your organizers that will keep things easily accessible and well organized, making life in the kitchen a whole lot easier.
