The desires of this test are to establish whether the genre of music students in a statistics class listen to determined by the race of the students. The John and Grace who are music teachers as the university wanted to establish whether the race the students belong to is a major factor in the determining of the genre and favorite artist they like. John holds that the race that the students belong to doses influence the genre they listen to as well as the favorite artist. Grace holds that the race the students belong to plays no role in the determination of the favorite artist as well as a music genre. According to grace, the students the association that the students have with one another, as well as the environment they are in, is what influence the choice of music and not their race. Thus according to John and Grace, they possess the best explanation as to why the students like different choices of music as well as artists.
Because this is the initial year that John is beginning to of the music in the university, he wants to establish the actual reason for the varied choices. According to John, carrying out a hypothesis ...
... test is the only way of establishing the best way to go forward in teaching his music students. Besides, both teachers wanted to establish whether the height of their students has any relationship with their heights. John holds that the weight of the students has a relationship with their height while Grace, on the other hand, believes that the two elements are not related. Thus, they would additionally wish to subject John’s theory to the test to establish whether there is a relationship or not.
The conditions of the hypothesis encompass testing the impact of the two varied positions, regarding the influence of race on the student’s music choice. Also, they would like to establish whether weight has any relationship with the height of their students. The test attempts to establish the impact that the methods used by John and Grace had on the performance of each of their 25 music students. More precisely the tests attempt to establish whether there is a difference in the relationship between the variables.
The variables that are going to analyze in the test are both the dependent and the independent variables. The dependent variable is music choice while the independent variables are going to be the race of the students only. In the subsequent observation, the independent variable is going to be the weight of the students while the height will be our dependent variable.
The null hypothesis in the testing is that the race of the students does not influence their choice of music. The alternative hypothesis entails that the student’s race has an impact on their selection of music.
Thus, research hypothesis holds that the students belonging to a particular race have a similar selection of the favorite artist and music. The second hypothesis entail believe that the students having a particular weight range have a corresponding height.
The rejection criteria will encompass the fact that the data in support any of the hypothesis has a significance p-value that is greater than 0.05. Thus should the analytical results of the hypothesis indicate that the significance level is less than the cut off value established in our example of 0.05, we are going to reject the null hypothesis accepting the alternative hypothesis? Additionally should the significance value be more than the cut-off value, we will not reject the null hypotheses neither shall we adopt the alternative hypothesis.
The sample size is going to comprise of 25 students in John and Grace Music class. The rationale for taking the students from the class to be our sample size is because the two lecturers offer a similar mode of teaching the music students. Addition, the other factor supporting the hypothesis is the fact that John is targeting his teaching methods in the context of student’s race while Grace treats all the students equally. Thus, the results we obtain in support of either method will be instrumental in affirming the teaching method the university should utilize in its studies.
Considering the white and black students make up the majority of the music student population, the teachers decided to use the two in the obtaining the CHI-TEST results.
Thus, the results of the test will be generalized to the entire fraternity of music students in the university population rather than just the student john’s and grace’s class.
Results Interpretation
From the chi test analysis, we obtain a p-value of 0.619883213, which is an indication of the fact that there is statistical significance association existing between race and preferred artist. Thus considering that the statistical significance is above our cut point of 0.05, we fail to accept the alternative hypothesis and additionally fail to reject the null hypothesis.
Regarding the testing of the relationship between weight and height we have our two p values being p-11.25912171 and p 4.1920312. Thus from the results of our analysis, we can conclude that there is no statistically significant relationship between the weight and height of the students. Thus considering that the p-value is more than our cut-off point, we will not accept the alternative hypothesis neither are we going to reject the null hypothesis.
