Barbados is a beautiful island country with an interesting cuisine, exotic tropical flora and fauna, and wonderful people. But what attracts millions of tourists to this jewel of the Caribbean crown every year is the mesmerizing land that covers around 70 miles, where every beach is as unique as the island itself! If you’re planning to visit this sunshine-filled country, here’s a list of beaches you need to visit:

1. Carlisle Bay, Barbados:

Carlisle Bay, Barbados is an ideal location for water adventuring activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling. Dave Dunlop of the Maritime Explorer says the ships resting in Carlisle Bay have created an ideal condition for the growth of corals and artificial reefs. Some of these ships were sank deliberately and some accidentally. Regardless, they are now home to marine animals like triggerfish, sergeant majors, snappers, trumpet fish, and a few dozen more varieties of fish. Refer to Dale’s blog if you’re looking to explore the sunken ships in order to find areas that are chock-full of aquatic life. The beach on Carlisle Bay, Barbados is rarely overcrowded with tourists ...
... and popular among locals during the weekends.

2. Bathsheba Beach:

Bathsheba is a small fishing village on the east coast that’s popular among surfers. The Bathsheba beach isn’t particularly ideal for swimming, but thanks to small pools carved out of inshore canals, you can go for a quick dip Also, there are many beach shacks offering rum and local specialties.

3. Mullins Beach:

Mullins Beach is without a doubt one of the best beaches on the west coast, one frequented by tourists and locals alike. The gentle waters are child-friendly and ideal for swimmers and snorkelers. If you visit Mullins Beach at the right time, you may also spot sea turtles swimming close to the beach. Or you could relax under some of the Casuarina trees that dot the shore.

4. Accra Beach:

Accra Beach on the south coast is a perfect place for swimming, especially for children, because of the sea is shallow and there’s a sheltered swimming area. Some of the other popular activities on this beach include windsurfing, snorkeling, and sailing. There are plenty of water stalls on the beach and you can easily rent loungers and other accessories. Additionally, if you’re looking to sample local food, there are plenty of beach shacks as well.

5. Crane Beach:

Crane Beach is on the southeastern side of Barbados. It gets its name from a huge crane, used to load and unload ship cargo, that once sat on the beach’s cliffs. The shores are known for their pink sands which get their color from all the coral. The coral reefs here are ideal for swimmers and body surfers. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, hike up a cliff and go cliff jumping. There are plenty of eateries around too, most of which serve local fare and typical English pub grub.
