Engineering is diversifying its scope of the study to all fields in science as such other sciences are applying its technology in their fields of research. One such topic that piques my interest is biomechanics. It is a field of science that applies the concepts of bioengineering and oversees the creation of biomedical devices that supplement the functions of biological systems. These gadgets are extremely useful in the health industry since they replace faulty or damaged parts of the human body. Bioengineering is one field of science that applies engineering to the field of medicine. The engineers responsible for carrying out research in the field of bioengineering are medical practitioners that have a diverse setting in the field of mechanics, blood chemistry and mathematics among others. These engineers apply the concepts and techniques in engineering to biomedicine. Qualitative analysis in biomechanics entails the observation of the movement system and application of an introspective judgment of the value of human movement. It allows the physician to offer the best procedure to improve the movement or reduce damage to the system. Both parameters that are qualitative and quantitative are necessary if the field is to deliver a proficient improvement of movement or reduce the level of damage. The study must balance out both the quantitative and the qualitative to develop a conclusive solution on how to increase performance or reduce the damage. The research applies the principles of mathematics, physics and engineering to hypothesize paths of study and come up with elaborate conclusions. Some of the fundamental qualities in carrying out these operations are keen critical thinking abilities and a comprehensive knowledge of the systems responsible for the movement of human beings.
