The two main components that define the overall look of the ring are the setting and style. Setting refers to the design of the base metal which hold the stones on the band. Choosing the right setting not only enhances the appearance of the gemstone but also adds more durability to your ring.

For Single Stone Rings sellers, the main embellishment on the ring is the stone itself. Therefore the quality of the stones and the longevity is the major concern of your customers. Without a proper setting achieving both of them is difficult.

Here are eight common types of ring setting for gemstones you must know-

1.PRONG SETTING
As the name suggests the prong setting uses small metal projections to secure the gemstone called prongs. Usually, a stone is surrounded by four or six prongs. This structure is best suited for faceted stone as it provides good surface resistance. It is also called the claw setting, it uses the minimum amount of metal. The setting is commonly used heavy precious and precious gemstone jewelry.

2.ILLUSION SETTING

3.INVISIBLE SETTING
It is one of the most complex settings. The gemstones are placed in such a fashion, no metal structure is not visible between them. When the ring is multi-stoned, the stones are joined girdle-to-girdle giving a seamless appearance.

4.PRESSURE SETTING
It was the traditional setting in which only the pressure of the base metal created a resistance that stopped the stones from falling out. In this type of setting the cut, shape, and size of the gemstone is highly important. Only the hard gemstones like diamond, ruby, sapphire, etc. should be used for this setting. It is prevalent in wholesale jewelry designs.

5.BEZEL SETTING
The bezel setting covers the entire surface of the stone. A border is made around the stone which can be either plain or decorated as per the design. The stone is fixed on the base of the ring using an adhesive, no space is present on sides. When you look at the stone from above, you will notice the rim of the metal is bent inwards.

6.CHANNEL SETTING
In a channel setting the gemstone is sandwiched between metal bars called channels. It is a robust set-up for both big and small stone. The channels hold the gemstone instead of stone.

7.PAVE SETTING
A number of same-sized smaller gemstones are placed one after the another. They are secured by small metal beads. In the pave setting the stone seems molded on the ring itself.

8.MICRO SETTING
The micro setting is common in diamond jewelry. Small stone half the point size is set almost touching each other on the band using a microscope.
