When we choose or buy a home, we often think about the overall design and structure.

We then look at each of the rooms and the bathrooms to further assess the home.

The same case is also the same at times when it comes to renovating and giving our homes a makeover. We change the paint colours, we rearrange our furniture or we change the decoration inside for a new aesthetic.

However, there are other parts of our home that we see and use every day but do not necessarily change during home renovations. Mostly, these parts are only changed or updated when we see that they are starting to become too worn-out or are damaged.

These items are our windows.

Since they are often covered by blinds or curtains, we may forget to check up on them every once in a while. They may also look alright inside but outside, they may already be damaged and need repairs. Moreover, they are constantly exposed to the changes in weather such as the rains and the heat of the sun.

Windows also have a great impact on your home’s design. Hence, it’s crucial that you choose window styles that will match your home ...
... or improve how it looks on the inside and the outside.

If you are looking for ideas and window styles that you can choose from, here are some of the most common ones:

#1 Casement Windows
This window style consists of large windows that are opened and closed like doors. Hence there are hinges on either the left or the right. While most casement windows open outward, there are also those that open inwards. These are perfect for rooms and kitchens as they are easily opened.

#2 Awning Windows
These windows are much like casement windows. However, instead of vertical openings, the hinges of the awning windows are placed on the top. Awnings are usually placed in windows of bathrooms, attics and basements so that the air can flow. They can, however, be placed in the upper or bottom part of windows in living rooms and kitchens.

#3 Sliding Windows
Sliding windows are usually common in commercial structures such as offices. However, they can also be used for homes, specifically in the kitchen and bedrooms. Sliding windows are also easily opened as you merely have to slide the glass to open them.

#4 Picture Windows
These large windows usually encompass the entire wall, giving you a full view of your outdoors. Majority of picture windows can also be opened through sliding. These windows are best for living rooms so that your guests can have a full view of your property. Should you want privacy during the evenings, you can always have curtains installed.

#5 Stationary Windows
Windows of this kind usually cannot be opened. However, they are customisable to your desired shape or angle. This kind of window is best for parts in your home that you would want the light to come through but are hard to reach and clean. They are also present in many modern homes.

#6 Double Hung Windows
One of the most common window styles, double hung windows can be opened vertically. They can be opened from the top or through the bottom part. Their design is fit for the living room, bedrooms and even the kitchen.

These are only some of the most common window types and there are even more that you can choose from. Furthermore, it’s essential for you to choose the right window style and opt for a material that you know can withstand the outdoors and harsh weather. One of the best materials that you can have for your windows and frames are aluminium. Here at All Aussie Aluminium and Glass, we have available residential aluminium windows available for homes in Perth!
