Learning opportunities and skills acquired in the University
There are various skills and learning opportunities that were acquired in the university. The entire university experience assured a broad exposure to different areas of study beyond the major. The general education program based on knowledge, acquiring skills and cultural awareness helped in developing the ability to clearly communicate and think critically. The knowledge and experience gained has widened my social perspectives and has enabled me to explore connectedness between subjects and thus developing practical skills. Given that a general education unveils a broad range of knowledge in different academic areas, it shaped me to be a well-round thinker and prepared me to be a difference in the chosen profession.
The learning helped me realize my potential. The university education fostered and developed potentials as well as offered opportunities for personal enrichment. It was the objective of the course to teach students to set forth their beliefs persuasively and communicate information clearly when writing or in other forms of communications. Particularly, students are expected to become sufficiently proficient in writing and speaking. Typically, the courses included writing assignments and discussions that serve as effective instruments for learning the subject matter of the course. The assignment in the courses were specifically designed to help students explore the course subject matter, shape writing for a particular audience, gain experience in interpreting data and research results and practice the type of writing associated with the particular professional field. The instructors provide written feedback according to work submitted. This provides the chance for students to apply the instructor's feedback to future writing and built into other courses. I also acquired some Critical thinking skills that have helped in making critical judgments in a rational and rational manner. The lecturers delivered content in a way that allowed students engage in and take ownership of that content. There was active involvement in learning activities that were instrumental in the development of critical thinking skills.
Plan to transfer the learnt skills into everyday life
The skills I learned are widely applicable to the everyday life. The exposure to the different values and skills is a valuable preparation for the kinds of work and career. The skills will significantly enrich the experience in the context and meaning of my career. Critical thinking is important and worth investing for to improve the skill. In the work and social environment, critical thinking will help in distinguishing between facts and opinions, inductive and deductive arguments, judgments and inferences and the objective and subjective. The skill will be vital where critical decisions based on my judgment will be required.
Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills are important in the workplace. Employees are required to communicate and write effectively to foster positive relationships between various stakeholders. The ability to communicate effectively and to use the accepted methods for the organization, presentation and debate is one of the requirements by employers in the field. I plan to use these skills effectively to secure a place in my career.
