Lg’s New Gesture Ui Mobes While Technically Interesting
LG has been hosting a low-key mobile world conference, but its most compelling feature is trying to interact with smartphones. Obviously, this is not yet listed in advance.
The "Air Motion" user interface in the new V50 ThinQ 5G and LG G8 requires you to draw shapes on your phone with your hand. It's like playing an invisible one. But it is difficult to master and unreliable.
These phones use Infineon's "Time-of-Flight" (ToF) 3D sensor, which was introduced a few weeks ago and is technically very interesting.
The industry requires 3D face unlocking to be compared to Apple, which is a supplier of products. There are other ways to use structured or stereo light, which will also be used in robotics. It is really small, you can see:
This is obviously not just a safe face unlock. LG frankly admitted that its implementation of aerial gestures is an early work in progress.
To activate it, it requires you to make a special claw shape and pull your hand away from the phone. Then you move it to the left or right.
Another use is "hand ID". LG says that everyone has unique hands and movements and ...
... can distinguish users because the ToF sensor is mapping your veins. Well, you may be thinking. Just like me.
Shape recognition systems have a lot of variables that go wrong here, and most of the time it does. You will think that the conditions of sufficient light will be very beneficial.
Two models - a 5G, an LTE - are all pounds of effort, may be more concentrated in the United States, Huawei did not enter the market, not Europe, the Chinese giant has almost pushed LG, Sony and HTC from the high position to the market street.
The 5G V50 is based on the V40 last fall, but with more robust battery and steam cooling - marking the 5G will gain more momentum early on.
The G8 features an OLED panel (6.1-inch, 1440x3120), but is very similar to last year's G7 - with excellent audio performance thanks to a dedicated four-way DAC and a rich support for high-fidelity audio codecs. But it also retains the cute, Korean-style user interface that looks strange and is a little dated today.
LG's TV user interface, based on webOS, is very easy to use. Samsung may be doing worse, instead of letting its Bucks make a similar transformation.
