The study of stem cells is sometimes leading to very fascinating facts and possibilities, and with so much work put into research, the potential of stem cells in the future seems to be huge.
A study presented in the United States of America a few years ago revealed that some stem cells could help in a particular way. Adult stem cells could actually be used in the medical field to improve the healing process of broken bones and eventually lead to new treatments for a certain type of people with particular fractures that could not have been healed before.

Surgery is often the only choice possible when a fracture cannot be fixed by the normal way. The result are often unpleasant for the patient as it usually means pain, immobilization, and in more serious cases, bone deformities or even worse than that in some rare cases, death.
The reason why a fracture does not heal is very often unclear and stays a sort of mystery for a lot of people.

A lot of researchers believe that one of the main reasons why a bone would not be able to heal would be due to an insufficiency ...
... in adult stem cells. Those stem cells usually are the one that become what we call reparative cells when there is a bone fracture. Their job will obviously be to heal the fractured bone. It is interesting to point out that stem cells can become many different things in the human body from cartilage to muscle.

Even if the discovery was at its beginning when the study was published and a lot more test were still necessary to find out if the use of stem cells could really help the healing process, this clearly shows how important it is to keep on working on stem cells.

Aware of the huge potential of stem cells, a lot of people setup private stem cells bank and cord blood banks to allow people to store their children's stem cells. Public stem cells banks also exist.
The reason why the stem cells collection or cord blood collection is done on children is because studies have shown that that is the time of our life where those stem cells are the purest and could be used and accepted by our body in the future. The problem if we can call it that way is that stem cells evolve and are changed as we live because they are affected by what we do or what we lived.
