Some travelers are crazy, like literally crazy to go for a road trip when the world is freezing with extreme cold in some areas. They don’t care about the difficulties that they will have to face. In fact, the same difficulties that scare the world thrill them. Nonetheless, the road winter cold trip to snowy mountains is not just another vacation where you can go without preparation. You have to prepare really well for a vacation in snowy areas, especially these days when the temperature in some regions has reached -40 degrees. Hypothermia, when the body spends more heat than it absorbs, is a common state in extreme cold. That is why; you must know a few things before you leave to face the challenges.

Use your vehicle as shelter

It may happen that you may not find any homestay or hotel at some times, which leaves you with the option of staying inside your car. When you leave your house, you must make sure that your car is equipped with enough blankets and warm clothes to provide you with insulation in case you are stuck somewhere. If you hire Self-Drive Cars in Delhi ...
... r directly from the hill towns, you can buy your resources there as well.

Head cover and cap

The body loses maximum heat when ears, head, neck, wrist, and nose are exposed to air. Make sure to invest in good quality coats and caps before traveling to extreme cold conditions; don’t wait to reach the hills to buy the required clothes. Sometimes it gets too late to purchase good quality warm clothes, so you must look for them beforehand.

Wear loose clothes

When you reach the Himalayan hills during winters, you may feel like wearing body hugging clothes to keep yourself warm. However, the contrary of it true that you must wear a little loose clothing. The space between the garments traps free warm air that acts as insulation, which is not possible when you wear tight outfits with no space for air.

Consuming snow

You should be aware of the methods to use snow to avoid staying hungry or dehydrated when stuck in an emergency. You can melt snow and filter it mildly to make drinking water, unlike ocean water that you cannot drink. Snow water does not dehydrate the body because it is not salty like ocean water. Though you will need to melt a lot of snow to fill one glass with water, it is all worth it when you need it.

Keep the body hydrated

Try to carry as much water as you can in your car, which will also save you a lot of money. You may feel the burden of weight of water initially, but you will then yourself when you use that water. Water keeps your body hydrated whether you are in a desert or snowy regions. People in the Himalayas melt snow for washing and drinking, but they use it prudently and you must follow the rule of the land as well. You simply cannot afford to waste any resources in such regions where facilities are already scanty.
Learn to light fire
It is for your own good to learn lighting a fire using natural resources. You may have to light a fire near your camp or homestay many a times during your stay. You must not be dependent on others for your survival, though the locals in the mountains are very kind. The residents will not leave someone outside to die, but you must also contribute something to their society as well.
