Advantages

Artificial grass in sport is less prone to becoming damaged than real grass and therefore requires less upkeep, less down time and less money for the club. This also means that the grass is likely to look in better condition year round staying greener and more well-kept at least in appearance. This will then reflect better on the team and the managing attracting more fans and getting more of those fans to want to pay for tickets to come and watch the games.
Artificial grass in sport is in some ways actually safer than real grass. This is due to the fact that it isn't as effected by whether and so won't become hardened in the case of ice for example or slippery and muddy in the case of rain. This would then mean that fewer sportsmen and women fall and slip and that the grass cushions them better when they do. This then has the knock on effect for the sports team and the fans of meaning that fewer players are injured and therefore the A-team is put forward more often. This will then help the team to win more games, thus winning more fans and more money and surviving and thriving for longer. It will also ...
... mean that fewer games will be cancelled as a result of the weather which will mean more people come to the games and the club gets more money. This makes artificial grass a great investment for any team. Having artificial grass for practice will ensure less number of player injuries during practice.
Artificial grass in sport creates more lucrative opportunities for sports teams and managers too. One of these is that it gives them the opportunity to embed advertising directly into the lawns by colouring fibre-optic fibers in the turf itself. Unlike the painted adverts that appear in some sports games this won't result in the paint rubbing off and leaving the players looking blue and the advertisement looking damaged. At the same time it won't be susceptible to rain. This coupled with the permanent nature of the advertisement means that the team can expect to get a far better deal from their sponsors which could be very beneficial for the team. In the future this technique might also be used to increase the amount of light reflected off of the turf which would again result in fewer injuries and also less energy needed to improve visibility for the audience and television crews.
The durable nature of this artificial grass also has other uses meaning that it can be used for more purposes. For example the pitch can then be loaned out for concerts or for local teams to practice and experience. This not only opens a club up to the community more (thereby winning them more followers) but is also potentially another source of much needed revenue. This is the kind of managerial decision that can make or break a sports team demonstrating why it's so important for sports club owners to think like business men rather than just sportsmen.

There are many different types of artificial grass these days to suit different purposes. It is important to speak with your synthetic grass supplier before buying, to be sure you get the right kind.
