The Choice Of A Career - Setting Your Priorities

In this modern world the choice of suitable profession is a tricky decision to make. The reason is quite obvious, unemployment among educated people is increasing and people are looking to get some job by hook or by crook, without really taking into consideration their own choice. Educated people are forced to do jobs which are opposite to there taste and temperament and they have to do it because of a serious shortage of jobs.
In the past, things were a little different. Choice of career was not that important and people were into adapting their family professions. There were families and generations after generations of farmers, carpenters or fishermen. Parents were not really concerned about the careers of their children. Not anymore, things have changed drastically. Most of the people are concerned about the career of their children since the day one, unless they are lucky enough to leave a fortune of wealth for their children.
The career of a young man is determined by many factors, some people just follow the career chosen by their parents, while others (the more courageous ones) pursue a career ...
... of their own liking. Family profession does matter as Children born in the family of bankers may want to become a banker, same goes for other professions like medical, engineering or IT. Reason could be the already established professionals who can help the new aspirants a great deal.
Before the selection of a career one must take into account his/her aptitude, temperament and of course the mental capacity. For example, a young man or woman who is looking to become a lawyer must possess argument and convincing skills, an engineer must have the ability to solve mathematical equations. The career must not be chosen on pure material basis. You must be having some other driving force or passion as well. For example a doctor must be having a passion to help suffering humans. Personal likes or dislikes are often the decisive factors when it comes to getting succeeded in any career. A person with artistic inclination will perform badly as an entrepreneur. Similarly, a child who lacks in confidence should never enter a profession that requires public speaking (unless of course polishing his/her skills). Contrary to the popular belief, there are many careers that do not require these skills, the point is that we must not force children to mold their personality to adapt some careers we want them to choose.
