The rate at which our population is growing it is important to save on energy consumption if not there would not be any more fossil fuels or power for consumption in future. It is therefore vital to cut down on the use of energy so that you will have fuel for others use too. It is simple to manage power by taking some simple steps. Whether you are trying to cut down on electricity at home or office these can still be followed in common except for few which are particularly targeted for home.

HVAC OR Heating Ventilation Air conditioning!

Firstly, make sure that you have a proper Heating Ventilation Air conditioning system in place. It should be properly designed and placed in the right location. Proper maintenance of these systems is also important in order to cut down on the consumption of power. Air conditioning systems must be cleaned regularly for its efficient performance. You must also check if there are any leaky air conditioning ducts. Do not ignore them if not they will cost you a fortune when it comes to paying your electricity bills every month. The bills may increase as the AC duct is leaking and there ...
... is greater use of power to deliver cooling effect. Moreover its cooling performance will also drop down.

Furnace filters and exhaust systems!

Take care to maintain the exhaust system in clean condition. If your filters are cleaned once in a while and old ones are replaced with new ones, there will be lesser consumption of energy. This will not only improve the air quality but will also help attain better performance and minimised current bills.

Lighting systems!

Make use of fluorescent bulbs or CFL bulbs. You must replace all your old bulbs or tube lights which are not fluorescent type. Ordinary lights may be cheaper to buy but they will consume more power in the long run. If possible you can consider energy saver tools that are available in the market to cut down on power consumption.

Cutting down the time spent to 5-7 minutes a day on an average, would result in savings on the monthly utility bills, saving water and maintain an individual's hygiene standards. Your hot water heater accounts for about 13% of your total energy use in the average home. You can save on your water bill and your hot water heating bill by also using a low-flow shower head.
