You can call him an athlete, professional football player, television personality. Emmitt Smith came into this world on May 15, 1969, in Florida. Ever since he was a boy, Smith dreamed of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. As a child he had to face many obstacles before he could make that dream a reality. His family had financial problems when he was a child. Emmitt helped his sick grandmother when he was a boy and this required that he work a lot of part-time jobs.

In high school he was an incredible player and athlete. Smith went on to play football for University of Florida. He quickly established him as one of its most dynamic players. In his first game he had over 100 yards rushing. While a player for the Florida Gators he even broke his own rushing records. He tied the school record of 14 for rushing touchdowns. He still holds many of those same records to this very day.

In 1990, Smith left University of Florida in his junior year to play for his dream team, the Dallas Cowboys. While playing at Dallas, Emmitt became the main man in the offense early in his career. In 1993, 1994, and 1996 Smith was a big reason ...
... the Cowboys won Super Bowls during these years.. In Super Bowl XXVIII, he actually received special recognition for his play. He was named the MVP of the Super Bowl. Emmitt also participated in many Pro Bowl games.

Emmitt starred at the University of Florida where he set 58 school records in his three years along with earning All-American honors and including being named the 1989 SEC Player of the Year.

Smith received the Super Bowl MVP award for Super Bowl XXVIII, becoming the only Cowboys running back ever to win the award out of all their Super Bowl wins. Emmitt was named both league MVP in 1993 and Super Bowl XXVIII MVP that same season.

In 2006, Smith returned the spotlight as a contestant on the hit television show, Dancing With The Stars. He emerged as the winner buy winning over the other dancers and taking home the trophy.
