Build Your Ark, Save Your World

He heard a voice. The voice wants him to do something, something no one had ever done before. Build an ark, the earth will be flooded and destroyed. The voice told him. He jolted out of sleep, if he was really sleeping. Whichever way, thinking or sleeping, he got up and wanted someone to share it with.

He set out, told his bosom friends he would be building an ark that would save the world. He wanted them to assist him, but they mocked him because no one had ever thought of building an ark. They told him the world can never be flooded and went about their business.

He had a heavy heart. He was frustrated and sat down for a while, thinking he must have got the wrong kind of dream. But the more he tried to get it out of his mind, the more the vision became real and he was left with no choice, but build it all by himself.

He wasted no more time, drew out his plan and immediately set to work. He kept on building even when friends came around and laughed at his stupid prophecies of a flooded earth. Sometimes he would work till late in the night only to wake up in the morning to discover some ...
... part of the ark had been destroyed.

Despite the fact that he had to rebuild some part of the ark, he wasn't mad at his family, wasn't angry with his friends who made a fool of him. He didn't complaining nor harasses the man upstairs. There weren't skyscrapers in his time, so I'm talking about God.

At long last, after so many years, he completed his assignment and instead of resting, he took his family and the animals he might find useful into the ark. He abandoned his house and chose to live in the ark he spent some of his lifetime building.

When he least expected it, when the people least thought of it, the rain came. He simply closed the door of his new house, smiling not as a fool but an achiever and a prophet. It rained heavily for days and his ark floated on the waters as those who laughed at him drowned in the flood. He saved his world.

I hope you know whom I'm talking about? If you are a regular student of the Sunday school class you should know. Anyway, I'm talking about Noah, who like you and me had a dream and work towards its accomplishment. Did you say his vision was divine?

The vision was nothing different from the one you had in your mind. It's nothing different from that dream you abandoned because your friend said it wouldn't work. It's nothing different from that vision you tossed through the window because your parents think such dream is insane. It's nothing different from the lifetime goal you shy away from because you got so many people laughing at you. Those are simply your critics at work.

If you are not criticized, you can't get better. If you are not laughed at, don't expect to be successful. If people did not say, It won't work then you still have a long way to travel. I'm not saying walk into the streets sharing your dreams with every passer by but people don't have to like what you are doing or where you want to go. They don't have to come giving you backslaps or some courageous words to push you on. They are basically there to dislike your dream, then wonder how good you are doing and finally they will be left with no choice than to like your dream.
