Electrical Training Courses Could Benefit Green Developments

Workers who have taken electrician training courses may soon find themselves in demand to carry out environmentally-friendly projects across the country, following new measures announced by the government.

According to Communities and Local Government, local authorities in the UK have been granted £10 million to help them address climate change.

The department stated that the funding comes as a result of three planning policies being overhauled and will go towards the use of sustainable sources of energy, encouraging the installation of electric car charging points, new eco-towns and allowing sports clubs to stay open after dark with hi-tech floodlights that cut light pollution - which could all give work to high-quality electricians.

Commenting on the news, housing and planning minister John Healey said: "This signals real and radical momentum to change and to re-think how we design our towns and homes for the future."

The government recently released details of its new Warm Homes, Greener Homes Strategy, which aims to cut carbon emissions from Britain's homes by 29 per cent before 2020.
