Soft Close Toilet Seat Importance, Selection And Fitting Explained
All those who have experienced it know it is very disturbing to wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of a bang of a fast closing toilet seat. Slow close toilet seat also called soft close toilet seat is a wonderful alternative to fast closing toilet covers. As the name suggests the soft close seat shuts very slowly and swiftly thereby making no noise.
What makes them close really slowly or how are they different from the regular fast close toilet seats? The hinges used in their making are instrumental in the slow closing of the seat. They are designed and installed in a manner that the toilet seat instantly does not get momentum. In fact the momentum generated by the hinges is gradually passed on to the seat cover thereby slowing down the closing process.
If you like the idea of soft close toilet seat and want to buy one but thinking what care should be taken while buying them? Then here we have some information on it. First let me tell you changing a toilet seat is quite an easy task and can be done by you. However if you are not confident about it then it is better you call a plumber who is expert ...
... in this job.
If you are confident enough and wish to do the job yourself then you can start the process with examining the shape and design of your existing seat. Your toilet seat can be oval, round, square, rectangle or any other shape. Depending on the shape take the dimensions of the seat.
Next thing you need to do is shop for the soft close toilet seat. For this you can either use the internet or go from shop to shop. Whatever way you choose to shop remember to match the exact specifications of both, the toilet seats the existing one and the new one. Because if there is a mismatch of specification the toilet seat might not fit perfectly on your toilet and still you will have to deal with it until you buy a new piece.
Last thing to do is replace the old seat with the new slow close toilet seat. For this you might need lube like WD-40 and a hack saw. Often you will be able to unbolt the seat with hands. But in case if it is an old seat fixed with iron bolts then you can use lube to loosen the grip and then unbolt the seat. Still if the seat does not come out then use hack saw to cut the bolts off. Finally when you have removed the old seat simply follow the reverse process to fix the new slow close toilet seat. Bolts and other things required for fitting it will be there in the pack.
