Palm oil is derived from the oil palm. It is considered to be one of the healthiest vegetable oils currently available on the market today. Because of the extremely low amount of unsaturated fat it contains. It also contains a large amount of several vital nutrients including Vitamins A and E. 3. No organisms that have been genetically modified can be used during the cultivation of the oil palm.
4. No synthetic drugs or chemical fertilizers can be used.
Further more, during the harvesting and productions processes, producers must seek to use methods that will not negatively impact the environment. Prevention of emissions, run-off and dangerous chemicals must be avoided.
Organic palm oil draws on a centuries old tradition. Palm oil has long been produced and used throughout Africa and Asia. Industrialization and technology changed the way oil palms were raised as well as the process by which oil is extracted from the fruit. Today, the impact of chemical fertilizers, over-taxed land and run-off have become apparent, more and more are growers are turning to healthier and more sustainable methods of production. By returning to the older ways of farming, we are rediscovering a world that uses natural methods instead of chemical ones.
