Due to global economy crisis, many people are knee deep in credit card debts. In order to dig yourselves out from the hole, you are recommended to go for debt negotiation. Bargaining with your banks or card providers is not a joke. You can actually do it and enjoy debt reduction especially when you are facing financial hardship. The negotiation process can be done through phone calls. Let me show you some techniques.

First thing first, you need to identify the right person you supposed to call. Seriously speaking, if you have the intention to eliminate the outstanding balances on your bills, it is no point for you to spend your time with the customer service officer who attends to your call because he or she has no authority to decide anything on your request. You are advised to contact the credit manager directly. Get the full name of the manager so that you can address him or her accurately. At the same time, you are able to know who to refer when you make the follow up calls.

Secondly, after you have managed to talk to the credit manager directly, you are suggested to brief the person in charge about ...
... your current financial situation. After informing him or her about the hardship you are facing, you can then offer your settlement proposal.

Basically, your first proposal is normally rejected and your creditor usually counter offers you with another settlement amount. You are reminded not to agree with the first offer as the settlement amount is usually much higher. You should then request the credit manager to end the conversation because you need time to reconsider.

After 3 weeks, you can call back to the same person in charge to make another request. Propose another settlement amount which is lower than your creditor's offer. You need to repeat this step few times until you have finally come to a reasonable and affordable amount.

Close the deal and request the creditor to send you a new agreement. Make the payment according to the amount agreed and schedule fixed. During the whole negotiation process, you are reminded not to be rude and harsh no matter how stressful you
are.

Having credit card debt makes you tensioned and depressed but you need to be calm and cool. You will never come to the conclusion if you are too emotional and moody. The credit manager also is not willing to assist you. A creditor likes to work hand in hand with debtors who are co-operative and polite.
