Kgb Vs. Google: Why The Winner Is Obvious!
I’m sure we’ve all been out and about and have either been asked a question or inquired about something that we needed to get a quick answer to. Thanks to these revolutionary smart phones we don’t have to call 10 of our friends/family to find the answer, nor do we have to run down to the nearest library in the advent that no one knows the answer. We can simply look to our useful Smartphone (the word useful is used loosely here depending on the phone you currently have) and find the answer we need through a choice of methods, including a quick Google search or through a service known as KGB.
While I opt for a simple and often reliable Google search, it seems that some actually do use the services that KGB provides. Now I’m not here to bash KGB, but since I like Google, I feel free to stomp out KGB’s flame of success because their approach towards promotion is to showcase Google search from a mobile device as a waste of time.
It is a little known fact that Google offers a similar text message query for the irresistible price of ...
... FREE, which is a no-contest bargain in comparison to KGB’s $0.99/answer service. Google’s service is called Google SMS. You simply send a text message to GOOGLE (466453), with your query and you will get results based on what you sent.
For example, I sent “Pizza 33166†to 466453 and instantly got a text message back with Google Local Listings highlighting the various pizza places in the area. I also typed in a question, “What is Search Engine Optimization?†Google instantly texted me back with “Search Engine Optimization: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via ‘natural’ or…†While I’m unsure why the results ended there, I was given a link to the source’s answer on Wikipedia.
While KGB seems to be a useful service, with clever advertisements, it also seems to be a complete waste of money. And while I understand their approach to promoting their serviceâ€â€œGet Answer’s, Not Linksâ€Ââ€I think their promotional tactics are misleading and the other half of the truth about Google should be brought to the light.
Google offers tons of ways to receive information quickly and accurately. Along with this Google SMS service, that, by the way comes with a free downloadable app on Android phones, Google also offers a free 411 service via 1 (800) GOOG-411.
Sorry KGB, you just don’t compare!
