How To Get Rid Of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Many people suffer from dark circles under their eyes. While this can be embarrassing and annoying, there are many ways you can get rid of them. The best suggestion for those that suffer from chronic dark circles would be to consult a doctor because a vitamin deficiency may be present. Of course, adapting a healthy lifestyle and drinking plenty of water can help to reduce the appearance of dark circles. If dark circles appear suddenly this can be a sign of an allergic reaction and should warrant a trip to the doctor as well.
For those who suffer from dark circles and puffiness under their eyes once in a while, there are many remedies available to reduce their appearance. One common remedy is the use of cucumber slices. Cucumbers are composed of more than 90 percent water so they are perfect for hydration of the skin. Thus, cool cucumbers have an excellent effect at reducing puffiness because they not only hydrate the skin but the cool temperature reduces the puffiness and swelling. Simply take a cool cucumber out of the fridge and slice two pieces off so that you have two circles. Lay back and place the slices on your ...
... eyes for as long as you like to help with the dark circles. If you don’t have any cucumbers around, raw potato slices are another food-based remedy that has been known to have the same effect.
Another often used remedy is cool tea bags on the eyes. Simply place two tea bags in a cold cup of water and let them soak. Once they are cool, squeeze the excess water out and place them on your eyes. The cool water and caffeine will reduce the puffiness while the tannin in the tea will reduce swelling because it has anti-inflammatory properties. You can use almost any tea you like, but green, black and chamomile are used most often.
Vitamin K has been known to work for dark circles under the eyes because of properties that are still somewhat unknown. It is thought that since Vitamin K works for bruising and helps strengthen capillaries it may help reduce the dark coloration under the eyes. There are many over-the-counter night creams available that contain Vitamin K. Putting a small amount of cream under your eyes at night may help to reduce the appearance of dark circles in the morning.
Last but not least, if dark circles are a major issue, there are laser treatments available which claim to thicken the skin under the eye helping to remove pigments and wrinkles. This should be considered a last resort as surgery can always have complications.
