Perennial Irrigation Has Increased Production

Irrigation plays an important part in Agriculture. Irrigation is the supply of water for the crops to grow. Man used various methods from the beginning to ensure the supply of water for required for cultivation. From manual to machines, technology has advanced a lot as far as agriculture is concerned.
If there is sufficient amount of timely rains, irrigation is not required, but since the rains cannot be depended, water has to be supplied to the crops through irrigation. Lack of sufficient water will affect the yield, and lead to reduction in the yield and reduction in the quality of the crop.
There are various types of irrigation like, surface irrigation, localized irrigation eg. drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, sub-irrigation and manual irrigation. To have to choose an irrigation system depending on the crop, on the labor available, depending on the soil, availability of water, size of the land requiring irrigation, availabilty of power source etc.
For the past many years, a great transformation has taken place in agricultural cultivation, from the ancient or traditional irrigation to perennial irrigation ...
... being adopted by the farmers, which was found to be very rewarding and satisfactory. Farmers all over the world started adopting this type of irrigation.
Now for those who don't know what is this is, perennial irrigation is the supply of water in accordance to the requirement of the crop from reservoirs, canals, dams and rivers. Because of this, water was available throughout the year. In Egypt, the water from the river Nile was regulated to the fields.
The perennial irrigation system has helped in producing high quality crops and yield was available throughout the year. But it has got some demerits also. This type of irrigation increases moisture in the soil which will increase pests and since cultivation is done throughout the year, the soil gets degraded.
