Ubiquinol Coq10

There are many nutritional compounds that are powerful antioxidants, but none are so deservedly revered than Ubiquinol. Ubiquinol is CoQ10; the usable, reduced and active form of CoQ10, or Coenzyme Q10 as it is also called.
What is CoQ10? CoQ10 is found in almost every cell in the body. It is an enzyme responsible for the production of energy within the mitochondria. The role CoQ10 plays in helping us produce energy is vital. In fact, 95% of the human body's energy is produced this way. Without CoQ10, our cells cannot function properly, and they die. And of course, if our cells are not functioning properly, or are dying, health issues can arise. Therefore, it's an intuitive connection that many researchers have made -- as our CoQ10 levels decline with age (or for other reasons) we are at risk for disease.
So here is the line of thinking: CoQ10 decreases with age, and aging itself is really a set of processes that contribute to health deterioration. Some people speculate, therefore, that supplementing to increase our levels of CoQ10 can help to fight or prevent the effects of aging and the onset of disease. ...
... Although the jury is still out, rat experiments have been promising in proving this connection. As a result, many consumers take CoQ10 supplements in an effort to fight aging and stave off disease.
Age is not the only possible cause of lower levels of CoQ10. Other factors such as stress, pollution, poor diet, and taking certain pharmaceutical drugs (such as statin drugs) can contribute to decreased levels of the powerful antioxidant Coenzyme Q10. Researchers have also observed that people with some diseases such as cardiovascular disease and Parkinson's disease have shown particularly low levels of the enzyme. This observed correlation between disease and lowered levels of CoQ10 has also contributed to the belief that CoQ10 supplementation is a powerful way to stay healthy naturally.
Our organs that require the highest energy to function, such as the liver or heart, have the highest concentrations of CoQ10. The hypothesis is that keeping the CoQ10 levels high will strengthen and support these important organs. In fact, Coenzyme Q10 is best known as the quintessential heart healthy supplement. However, because of the many potential benefits of CoQ10, people take CoQ10 supplements for additional reasons including to prevent cancer or disease, increase energy, support the immune system, lower blood pressure and much, much more.
Up until now, Coenzyme Q10 supplements have mostly been offered in the original Ubiquinone form. (Aptly named, as it is ubiquitous in our bodies.) Our bodies convert Ubiquinone into the reduced, usable form Ubiquinol. However, it's been found that as we age, our bodies are less able to make that conversion (and as a result less of the CoQ10 nutrients offered in supplements are synthesized by the body). Recently, however, researchers have found a way to formulate CoQ10 supplements to offer the absorbable Ubiquinol form directly.
Due to our decreasing ability to convert Ubiquinone, it is thought that after about age 40, the preferred and most effective type of Coenzyme Q10 supplement to take is the Ubiquinol form. In addition, it is even more beneficial to take a duo-soluble Ubiquinol supplement, that is to say, water-soluble CoQ10 (in addition to fat-soluble). The body can then more efficiently and more thoroughly absorb as much of the active Ubiquinol as possible, thus resulting in more powerful antioxidant protection.
