Most of us work hard as students to get good grades and then continue the same in our professional life. The purpose is to lead a quality life which includes a beautiful and comfortable home. However, mankind in quest for better living has overlooked the impact of new discoveries on the environment. But, thankfully now people have begun to realize how important it is to keep our environment pollution free for a healthier living. And hence the concept of Green Remodeling in home improvement industry has started gaining more and more importance.

However, not many know that we can help conserve nature by small Do-It-Yourself green projects. For instance, you can start by changing the old bulbs in your house. Next time you go to your car garage, have a look at the bulbs. If they are old yellow bulbs, then you can replace them by the newer white fluorescent bulbs. The fluorescent light bulbs may be more expensive but consume lesser energy and prove cost effective in the long run. They also give better illumination then the yellow ones.

Use ceiling fans in winter to distribute heat evenly in the room. Also regularly ...
... change the air filters. Clean filters help save energy and hence help lower carbon emissions in the environment. Similarly use drapes and blinds as partial insulation is provided by these and hence decrease the load on your heater or air conditioner. Energy-efficient windows save a lot of energy. You may consider hard glaze coating on windows to block damaging sun rays like ultraviolet and infrared rays. It also helps to keep the room cool in summer and hot in winter. Weather proofing the windows by caulking also helps lower energy consumption. Overall better insulation of various inlets and outlets of the house helps conserve nature. Similarly, a programmable thermostat which would ensure that the heater and air conditioner works only when required also helps conserving energy.

Remodeling may also include installation of solar power panels providing solar energy for many utility purposes. When you plan to remodel your home, keep in mind the remodeling of your large home, the mother Earth also. After all, planet Earth is our home and it is our duty to maintain it in good condition and to pass it on to future generations as an enjoyable and healthy place to live in.
