Trying to take a course to earn credits can cost anywhere from a few hundred to thousands of dollars, not to mention the number of hours you have to spend sitting in class. If you are already bilingual, then taking the CLEP will not be very difficult for you. The fee for each CLEP test is only $72, which is a tiny fraction compared to course fees at your community college. If you have shown mastery of the language equivalent to 4 semesters of classes, you can earn 12 credits for taking one test.
Registering for the CLEP is extremely easy and can be done online. You also don't have to worry too much about test centers and dates. Most CLEP exams are offered multiple times in a year at various locations in cities all over the country. Since the CLEP exams are computerized, you can receive the score report immediately after completion.

Even if you are apprehensive about the CLEP, there are many resources out there to help you. For those who are rather independent and disciplined, you can easily pick up a CLEP tests guide on their official site or at a bookstore. Becoming familiar with the questions will help you score higher on the CLEP. If you feel that you need more structure, there are many test prep programs out there that are less costly than actual college classes that can help you prepare for the CLEP exam.
