Are those important dates you've been utilizing for lottery numbers going to improve your chances of winning the lottery?

It might. It might not. Many of you have tried to use important dates in your life as lottery numbers in an attempt to improve your chances of winning the lottery. I'll even plead guilty to using it myself a few times. But, does it make sense; is it smart?

I don't mean to infer that birthdays and anniversaries are not important. So, I want to be careful that I don't upset anyone. But, it is important for you to take an unbiased look at the facts.

One thing worth noting is that utilizing important dates for some lotteries is perfectly valid.

However, using this strategy could be a costly tactic for most lotteries. Your chances of winning the lottery can be penalized dramatically.

For instance, in North America, utilizing important dates is fine for the West Virginia Cash 25 (6/25), Wisconsin Badger 5 (5/31), Pennsylvania Cash 5 (5/30) or the Minnesota Northstar Cash (5/31) lotteries. There is no penalty. But, you will be reducing your chances of winning ...
... the lottery in the other 69 lotteries. Here are some lottery statistics I assembled using my lottery software that should bring things into perspective.

How severe is the penalty?

The lottery statistics clearly show that the larger the lottery, the larger the penalty. These statistics make my point rather emphatically.

By analyzing all of the winning numbers over the last three years for all 5 number lotteries, we discovered these amazing facts.

What are your chances of being in the race for the lottery jackpot if you play dates?

1. For a 5/40 lottery - only 23% of the time
2. For a 5/35 lottery - only 55% of the time
3. For a 5/37 lottery - only 40% of the time

Therefore, if you play a 5/40 lottery, 9 months out of every year, you could never win the lottery jackpot and celebrate by singing Happy Birthday! The Wedding Singer wouldn't be able to even consider celebrating a lottery jackpot win, 40 weeks out of every year.

Attention! How long are you going to continue riding this dead horse?
What other penalties are you paying for by not having the best lottery software?

To improve your chances of winning the lottery, you need to avoid these and other pitfalls.
