Didactic literature is literature is one that is focused more of on teaching than entertaining. Some of the teachings in such literature are contradictory to what the reader believes while others reinforce their beliefs (Pennell, 2003). This essay explains some examples that have collided with my beliefs and others that I have supported.
The literature on drinking water baffles me. It argues that one should take warm water after hot meals. This is said to help maintain the optimal working temperature of digestive enzymes to allow speedy digestion of the swallowed food. My reasoning is that after a hot meal, the body generates a lot of heat and thus calls for a cold drink to lower the temperatures and enhance the body comfort.
This literature however does not disagree with my opinion when it comes to its view on water consumption. I believe in taking 200 ml of water every two hours to keep fit. The literature advices on taking 2.4 liters of water daily, which is mathematically in line with my view.
I agree with the didactic literature on time management, that there is time for everything and that one should ...
... do the right thing at the right time. I feel this is true since poor time management results in poor work results. It further argues that the early-to-bed early-to-rise strategy is the best to enhance time management. I slightly disagree with this since some activities require working late in the day.
Respect begets respect is an example of a modern proverb which may be used to mean that one has to show respect in order to be respected.
Using metaphors such as her husband is a lion to mean he is the family dictator and she is the morning lily to mean she is pretty gives a passage more elaborate meaning.
