Migrate From Lotus Domino To Exchange Server 2003

Migrating users' mailboxes including other items like calendar, drafts, etc. from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003 using Exchange migration wizard is a long, complex, and time-consuming process. Though, the process is lengthy, there can be a need for the users to migrate from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003. After the Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003 migration will be completed, Lotus Notes email items can be accessed using Outlook. However, before performing Lotus to Outlook migration, one should ensure that the server where Exchange Migration wizard has been installed should fulfill the following requirements:
Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 must be installed and running.
Service of Connector for Lotus Notes and Directory synchronization must be stopped otherwise the Exchange migration wizard will not extract data from Domino server.
Lotus Notes 6.x client must be installed and configured on Exchange Server 2003.
Domino Server and Exchange Server 2003 must have network connectivity.
You must have administrative privileges on both Domino Server and Exchange Server 2003

... ensuring the aforementioned prerequisite, you need to execute following operations for successful migration of users' mailboxes and other items from Lotus to Outlook:
Setup e-mail connectivity.
Setup Domino and Exchange Directory synchronization.
Setup calendar connectivity.
Now, it is the time to migrate Lotus to Outlook. In the process of migrating Lotus to Outlook, it has been assumed that the Exchange Connector for Lotus Domino has already been installed and configured. Execute the following steps for successful migration of Lotus Notes to Exchange Server 2003:
1.Start the Exchange Migration wizard for Lotus Notes. The Welcome screen appears.
2.Click the Next button. The Migration screen appears.
3.Select the Migrate Lotus Notes mailboxes from a Domino Server option and then click the Next button. The Lotus Notes Migration screen appears.
4.Click the Next button. The Migration Procedure screen appears.
5.Select a migration method from the given migration methods and then browse a location to copy the migrated files.
6.Click the Next button. The Migration Destination screen appears.
7.Select the Migrate to a computer running Exchange Server option.
8.Select Exchange Server and corresponding Information Store and click the Next button. The Access Information screen appears.
9.Specify locations for notes.ini and User.ID file and then specify a password for the Lotus Notes user ID, which has been used by Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes.
10.Click the Next button. The Hierarchical Name screen appears.
11.Select the Domino Server from which you need to migrate users' mailboxes to Exchange Server. Click the Next button. The Migration Information screen appears.
12.Click the Next button. The Account Migration screen appears.
13.Select users that you want to migrate from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003 and click the Next button. The Container For New Windows Accounts screen appears.
14.Select the directory container to which you want to migrate the selected Lotus Domino users.
15.Click the Options button. The "Accounts Options screen appears.
16.Select the Generate random password and the User must change password at next logon option. After configuring options on the Accounts Options screen, click the OK button.
17.Click the Next button. The Windows Account Creation And Association screen appears.
18.Click the Next button. The migration process starts. During the migration process, the Exchange Migration wizard extracts data from Lotus Domino and transfers to Exchange Server 2003 and Active Directory. This process may take some time.
19.Click the Finish button.
20.Click the OK button in the Exchange Migration Wizard for Lotus Notes screen.
Described above is one of the processes to migrate Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003. However, the process is long, time-consuming, complex, and confusing, you must be proactive while using Exchange Server Migration wizard to migrate users from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server 2003.
