When you want to contact someone in a different location to you do you write a telegram or do you make a phone call? If you are going somewhere on a journey would you use a map or a satellite navigation system? So why do people still send physical cards when it can be done much better and efficiently digitally?
We are in 2010 now and everything is going digital. People want efficiency and convenience, which is why people now prefer to write emails to writing letters and why writing cheques is slowly becoming phased out and replaced by online bank transactions. It now appears that physical cards will become obsolete. People are already starting to realise that sending cards by post is no longing the most convenient way of sending cards as highlighted by the drop in number of Christmas cards given this winter, and Royal Mail boss Adam Crozier says a further decline is expected over the next four years.
One reason why cards are outdated is that people are starting to realise that they can use technology to create more personalised messages to each other than they could do with a traditional card. For example sending ...
... a digital e-card through Boonspace allows you to not only write a personal message similar to a traditional card but it also allows you to create a video message, add photos, audio and animated virtual gifts to the card. These features make the card far more personalized than a traditional card and removes previous misconceptions of e-cards being impersonal.
Another reason why sending cards in the traditional sense is outdated is because of the delay in the recipient receiving it. Any item sent by post takes at least 24 hours to deliver and to send a card to someone in another country can take up to a month depending on their location. Not only does this delay cause further inconveniences but there is also a risk of the card getting lost in transit and never making it to the recipient. This problem is eliminated with cards sent via email because an email can be sent and received almost instantaneously. With Boonspace it is possible to send money safely and securely to the recipient along with the card, making receiving the card even more special.
A third reason why sending a card in the traditional sense is outdated, is because they add to environment damage. With people becoming even more environmentally conscious, the concept of cutting down trees to send cards that after a couple a weeks get thrown in the bin is becoming increasingly pointless. Therefore a much more environmental way of sending cards is using the internet.
Overall, technology and the internet allows us to do so much more and to a higher quality. The actual benefits of sending a traditional card no longer holds much value in today's society. I am going to make the prediction (and you can quote me on this) that within the next 10 years sending cards by post will become a thing of the past. Therefore move into the modern times and send your cards for free using Boonspace and give the recipient something they will really appreciate.
