The sign that any country is making rapid progress is defined by the happiness quotient of its people. Any country which provides all the basic amenities to its people like Food, Clothing, and Shelter is said to be on the threshold of growth and development. For any country to grow into a world class superpower, all the basic amenities should be made available to it's people. The country should be well networked with respect to good roads connecting the various cities, good transport and telecom facilities, etc. In short all the citizens should be interconnected and be able to reach one another. Nowadays, there is a very heavy investment towards the realization of this dream in the form of developing and maintaining good roads and bridges, improving basic transport facilities, provide low costing housing to the poor, etc. In short, the entire infrastructure is growing by leaps and bounds. Due to this reason, the advent of ERP in Construction is very much in vogue.

ERP in Construction has become an absolute necessity now as there is an absolute need for coordinating all the different projects which have been started. These ...
... projects are also in different domains and each and every domain has its own unique requirement. E.g The transportation network like the Railways would require raw materials which are completely different from the housing segment. Items like Steel, Concrete, Wood, Stones, Nuts and Bolts, etc. are required for making railway tracks, while raw materials like Cement, Bricks, Paint, etc. is required by the housing industry. Also, there is the maintenance of labor which is a totally different avenue in its own right.

The cost of labor, their wages, attendance, etc. has to be maintained, and a record of these kept of. In Road and Bridge development projects, the quantity of Tar, Concrete, Steel etc. is to be kept a track of. Also, the determination of wages, handling of contractors and sub-contractors, their wages, etc. have to be kept a track of. In the Housing sectors too, with the number of housing projects coming up, there is a huge demand for something which takes charge of all these activities without much interference from humans. It is physically impossible to attend to so many different facets at one time, and this where automation is the order of the day. Automation ensures that the possibility of errors and mistakes are totally minimized and there is total transparency which is maintained throughout the Construction process. ERP in Construction is the one way via which automation can be carried in a very successful manner and with a minimum of fuss.

Any ERP in Construction contains a whole lot of different modules which are target specific. That is, they are related towards one particular task alone. Thus, a module concerned with Labor wages will do the entry and calculation of the labor charges, their attendance, etc. while a module concerned with Material Management will only be concerned with the management of raw materials. i.e. the quantity of raw material ordered, the date, the cost, etc.

Thus, ERP in Construction has become an absolute necessity as far as automation is concerned so that the construction can be carried out in a smooth and effective manner without any unnecessary botheration about the how's and whys of the intricacies of the business.
