Reliance: The Logistics Empire

Reliance Logistics Pvt. Ltd (RLPL) is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited which takes care of all transportation, warehousing, distribution and supply chain services. RLPL is an India based company which is supported by in house telemetry and telematics.

The year 2001 saw the initiation of this Reliance Group which is an integrated logistics company that looks after all logistics allied services. This asset based company; RLPL owns its own infrastructure, fleet and workforce.

Reliance Logistics Private Limited has 100 branches and about 23 distribution centers and earned its ISO 9001-2000 certification in the year 2004-2005. RLPL registered a turnover of about Rs 319 crore in the first year. Following the fiscal year 2002-2003, RLPL started transportation of IPCL products and RIL liquid chemicals and also launched non Reliance transportation services which resulted in the turnover of the company touching Rs580 crore. This was just the beginning of the mega logistics company that Reliance Industries had launched. In the year 2006-07, RLPL welcomed another service to its troupe. It commenced its package delivery services and incorporated Infinite Logistics Solutions Pvt. Ltd. which was a joint collaboration between Reliance Logistics Private Limited and Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) while incorporating Relogistics India Pvt. Ltd. by merging 16 associated companies to make one entity. RLPL's joint venture, Infinite Logistics Solutions Pvt. Ltd. provides services ranging from road-rail multimodal services to warehousing and terminal management and infrastructure development.

The fact that RLPL has an annual movement of above 16 Million metric tons of cargo through all mediums- Road, Rail and Sea, makes it one of the largest logistics provider in the nation. It owns more than 200 own heavy vehicles with a count of 100 distribution centers giving it a reach of 14 lakhs square feet.

Reliance Logistics Private Limited has a strong hold over moving even the most complex materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous including liquid and gases with complete safety and security. RLPL has been catering to diverse industries like Petrochemicals, FMCG, Steel, Cement, Consumer durables etc. RLPL utilizes the best quality and certified in-house telemetry technology for supporting and better running of logistics business.

Warehousing and Distribution

Each month, more than 2,00,000 tons of cargo flows through RLPL's distribution centers. Under the huge umbrella of this division including invoicing, secondary transportation, plant logistics, value added services and other.

Transportation services

RLPL owns a huge trail of brilliant clientele ranging from Unilever, Colgate, Godrej, Parle Agro, ITC, Metal & Mineral Industry, Jindal Steel, Hindalco, Havells, L&T Ltd, Bhilai Engineering etc. RLPL' transport services are product specific, multimodal, EXIm services, Port Terminal Container Transportation and project Cargo Transportation.

Package Delivery services

RLPL operates through a network of 12 Multi service centers and about 250 franchisees. It's headquarter is in Mumbai. The services offered under this division are Express package (air), Express package (surface) and even cheque on delivery.

Assets tracking services

A division of RLPL, Telematics deals in automation support systems for moving assets in the supply chain management area. It also provides vehicles equipped with GPS tracking systems for Indian Industries.

Fleet services

The company owns a strong base of fleet that has a wide range of vehicles in order to assist with a proper and complete range of moving assets with the operational centers in Delhi, Surat, GTI, Vizag, JNPT and Indore.

With so many services operational under the Reliance Logistics Pvt. Ltd., and a star studded range of clientele, RLPL is only in for a stupendous growth in the years to come.
