IBM systemx3100M4 server is a compact tower server with single socket powered by Intel Xeon and Core i3 processor to offers strong performance. It delivers several standard features with the lowest price, in a compact mini-tower or standard tower form factor with disk drives and hot-swaps power supplies. This server also has built-in security, systems management capabilities and flexible configuration options.

This server is a reliable, cost-effective and compact alternative for PC in running small businesses successfully. The System x3100 M4 has a fixed 350W power supply, but consumption can be reduced with a 300W 80Plus model. IBM System x3100 M4 is so quiet, thus perfect for small offices with a single cooling fan at the rear, and together with the large passive processor heatsink and solid internal air shroud. With its compact size and optional kit with the necessary rails and spacers making it easy to install and service.
IBM systemx3100M4 server with Intel Xeon E3-1200 v2 family of the processor is perfect for applications requiring performance and stability, and with core i3, Pentium and Celeron processors ...
... this server is perfect for lower cost applications. The System x3100 M4 is a high-performance server with out costly design features in general-purpose servers and thus reduces TCO for small businesses.

High performance and scalability for growing business needs:
The single-socket x3100 M4 supports the new "Ivy Bridge" family of processors to provide exceptional computing power.Selection of processors with up to 4core provides effective use of multi-threaded applications.Ivy Bridge" family of processors has Intel Hyer-Threading Technology and Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and so maximizes the performance.

This server supports Up to 32GB of high-speed 1600 MHz DDR-3 UDIMMs system memory with four DIMM sockets each supports 4GB of memory on models with “Ivy Bridge” processors.Four high-performance PCI Express 3.0 or 2.0 slots available with this server, depending on the processor installed.

IBM systemx3100M4 has six drive bays totally and two 5.25” d drive bays at the front of chassis and the other four-drive hard disk bays featured behind the front panel. With the support of up to four internal 3.5-inch simple-swap SATA II HDDs offer low-cost/high-capacity storage of up to 3 TB each. Eight internal 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS/SATA HDDs in some models is mainly for high performance and scalability.
A 5.25-inch drive bay supports either an RDX Removable Disk Cartridge drive or a half-high tape drive, for low-cost data backup.
ServeRAID C100 RAID controller software featured in this server supports RAID 0, 1 and 10 and offers value RAID solutions for internal storage media along with SATA connectivity with in low-cost and provides investment protection. This feature can be easily managed and configured with MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) and MegaCLI tools.
This server has 2 Integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports efficient slot-saving integration for high redundancy and increased network throughput. At the front, this server has two USB 2.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports at the rear and there is one internal port for a tape drive or RDX Removable Disk Cartridge drive.

Simplified serviceability and availability features:
The x3100 M4 has ECC memory with error correction avoids data loss due to soft memory errors and system crashes and provides high system uptime. With the tool, less removal of chassis cover makes it simple to access upgrades and serviceable parts, such as CPU, memory, and adapter cards.

Few models with hot-swap drive bays with RAID capabilities reduces the system down time during a drive failure. The Predictive Failure Analysis detects the abnormal operations of system components over standard thresholds and gives warning alarms prior to any possibilities of system failure. IMM2 constantly monitors system parameters, give alarms, and carry out recovering actions in case of failures to reduce the system downtime.DSA Preboot minimizes service time by speed up troubleshooting tasks. DVD-ROM drive in a dedicated bay provides easy software installation. Redundant hot-swap power supplies also maximize the server uptime.

High data security and easy to manage:
Management features like IMM2 perform remote management and monitor server availability. UEFI offers enhanced system setup, updates, and configuration, and simplifies error handling.Support for TPM 1.2 provides standard cryptographic functions, like remote attestation and digital signatures. Industry-standard Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) NI support in Intel Xeon Processor E3-1200 v2 family offers stronger and faster encryption. IBM Systems Director with complete systems management tools reduce costs, increase uptime, and enhance productivity via standard server management features.

High energy efficiency:
Low-voltage Intel Xeon processors take less energy to fulfill the demands of power and thermally constrained data centers. The server has hexagonal ventilation holes provide more efficient airflow through the system and so reduces the cooling needs.350 W power supply or 300 W 80 PLUS certified power supply also offer high energy efficiency.

On the whole IBM systemx3100M4 is a quiet, compact and solid build, making it an affordable and robust first server for small businesses.
