Know About The Procedure Of Eye Bag Removal Surgery
Lack of sleep, long hours of work, or simply staying awake to binge watch your favourite shows can all lead to dreaded eye bags. But the number one cause of eye bags still remains to be aging. That’s right—you can blame work and stress, but it could also be that you are just getting old. Fortunately, eye bag removal surgery exists to get rid of one of the major signs of aging.
Eye bag removal surgery or Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess, loose skin and fatty tissue from the upper and/or lower eyelids to get rid of eye bags, and in some cases, to repair hooded eyelids. This procedure comes in three types: upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, and a combination of both upper and lower. No skin removal is necessary for a lower blepharoplasty performed through the conjunctiva, wherein only the fatty bags are removed. Note that this procedure will not get rid of dark circles, wrinkles, and crow’s feet, although a transconjunctival blepharoplasty can be done at the same time (wherein a resurfacing ...
... laser will tighten the external skin). This will reduce wrinkles and will leave no external scarring. Residual redness can last for a few months. The procedure typically takes around two hours and requires a general anaesthetic. It could be a day case, but an overnight stay is also recommended. After the surgery, suture strips will be applied to support the eyelids. These strips will be removed after three to five days.
There are a few common risks when it comes to this surgery such as infection, permanent numbness, blurry or double vision, and bad scarring. Hematoma or bleeding under the skin after the operation is also normal, and this usually goes away over the span of two to three weeks. However, if the pool of blood is quite large, it may have to be drained. You also do not need to worry if you see white cysts along the stitch line, this can easily be removed by your surgeon with a needle. When it comes to choosing a surgeon to perform eye bag removal surgery, make sure that he or she is GMC-registered. One of the best in the country has won awards, performed thousands of operations, and has over fifteen years of experience.
