Directional Boring is a method of fixing the pipes or cables that are under the ground. This method is carried out with the help of a drilling rig. It is a developed technique of trenching. The plus point of this technique is that it is executed without disrupting the environment or disturbing people in the surrounding area. There are different type of pipes such as, plastic, polyethylene, steel and iron which can be fixed easily without wasting any time. The pipes or cables of electricity, gas, water, telecommunication, oil or sewers are usually cost effective. This method is normally applied on a soil where there are cobblestones.

There is no specific technique which is safer than the other ones, but if precautions and safety measures are undertaken cautiously then such incidents can be avoided.

It is important for the workers to disclose and mark all the utilities in the area to be drilled. This can be done by calling the Dig Safe.

Double check the points around the drilled path of the present utilities. Look out for the utilities that might have been missed by the locator. The next thing is to have the right equipment according to your work and project. You must have the safety equipment. The workers are supposed to wear proper eye and ear protection, rubber gloves, and visible clothes and work shoes during every step of process.

The drilling rig or drilling head must be located to ensure it stays on the right path. Check for the obstacles that might interfere in the work.

The workers must have the right communication between them. Two radio method is the best way.

The workers should be made aware of the potential hazards and how to deal with them.
