On Friday 7th July, the launch ceremony of the filming of Hollywood movie Serenity took place. The event was hosted by the Board of Investment at one of the luxury hotels Mauritius is famed for — Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa.

The ceremony was attended by the prime minister of Mauritius and his family as well as stars of the movie, Matthew McConaughey and Diane Lane. Various other VIPs were also in attendance including government ministers, other cast and crew of the film, and CEO of Maradiva Resort Mr Sanjiv Ramdanee.
