NMAT by GMAC is a Pan-India level MBA entrance exam which is conducted to take admissions in the management programs of the renowned MBA colleges in India like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), ICFAI Business School (IBS), Alliance University, Ansal University, VIT University, SRM University and much more.

About NMAT Exam:

NMAT is conducted at various centres across India. The candidates who want to appear for the NMAT can give three re-attempts of the exam. The gap between the attempts should be minimum of 15 days. The exam authorities then can consider the best score out of all the attempts. On the basis of scores, the student can send the admission request to 7 colleges for free of cost, and after that, the candidate has to bear the extra charges.

Exam Pattern:

NMAT is a computer based test, and a random paper is served to the candidates appearing for the exam. Although the number of questions, time limit and score per question is pre-determined. NMAT comprises of 3 sections which include Language Skills, Quantitative ...
... Skills and Logical Reasoning. Language Skills consists of 32 questions that need to be completed in 22 minutes. Quantitative Skills section consists of 48 questions that need to be completed in 60 minutes. Logical Reasoning section that consists of 40 questions that need to be completed in 38 minutes.

Preparation Strategy:

To prepare well for the NMAT exam, all the sections need to be given equal importance. Analysing the preparation strategy for each section individually can help the student to sail easily through the exam with good scores.

In the quantitative Skills section, the time distribution is 1.25 minutes per question. To score maximum marks in this section, the candidate needs to solve the easy and quick to solve questions first irrespective of the sequence. The important topics of this section include Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra and Modern Math. The exam demands a good mental calculation ability, practice and improves to increase the calculation ability.

In the Logical Reasoning section, the time distribution should be 1 minute per question. This area tests the logic capacity of the candidate's mind. There are two parts of this section- Verbal and Analytical. The most important thing that an aspirant need to take care in this section is that never assume anything that is not mentioned in the paper. It is advisable to pay attention to the keywords like some, other than, none. Practice is the key to score well in this section. The more you practice, the more accuracy you will gain in solving the questions.

In Language Skills section, time can not be distributed as an ideal benchmark. It depends on the individual that how much time is devoted to each person on different topics. This section will test the vocabulary, grammar and comprehension skills of a person. Reading newspapers daily can help a lot to attempt maximum questions. For this section, the grammar should be brushed up.
