Jaipur Packages - The Heritage City Painted In Pink By: Rashmiranjan Patil
The heritage city, Jaipur calls its visitors by its majestic forts and monuments. Jaipur, situated in the state of Rajasthan, is also called the 'Pink City' as its walls of the buildings are painted in pink. The city of Jaipur founded in the year 1727 by Sawai Jaisingh II who had in-depth knowledge in astronomy. He was the man behind the planning and the construction of this city of Jaipur. Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, is also called the ‘Walled City'.
Jaipur houses many attractive forts and some of them are Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, Hawa Mahal and the City Palace. Nahargarh Fort was the earlier residence of the Maharaja. Janthar Manthar is an observatory constructed by Sawai Jaisingh II which is used for astronomical calculations. There are a set of buildings used for the calculations and is very reliable even now. Hawa Mahal is a five-storied monument with overhanging 152 windows. This was originally made for royal ladies to view the procession in the streets. Now a museum functions here. Amber fort is a huge fort which contains fantastic chambers like Diwan-i-Aam, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas and Jai Mahal. Sisodia Rani Garden is a marvelous garden built by raja for his queen.
The construction of the various forts and monuments showcase the blend culture of the Mughals and the Rajputs. The construction of the city was well planned as the City Palace is in the centre and the markets, residents and the public buildings are placed around the City Palace. Jaipur Havelis are very old and famous constructions with arched gates, big courtyards and beautifully carved balconies. Some of the famous Havelis in Jaipur are Nattani ki Haveli, Rajputana Haveli and Nawab Sahib ki Haveli.
Jaipur visit will not be complete without shopping in its streets. Bed sheets with traditional Jaipuri print, cloths with mirror work and other curios are a familiar sight in the markets. The main live markets in Jaipur are Sireh Deori Bazar, Johari Bazar and M.I. Road. Sireh Deori Bazar is a famous market that sells puppets. The famous tie and die fabric making, block printing, painting and sculpture making are some of the arts in Jaipur. You can get all the bandhani and block printed textiles from Johari Bazar. The jewelries are crafted and sold in Johari Bazar. The popular Kundan style jewelry is a much demanded item even from the foreign countries.

The name Bengaluru was bequeathed to the place by the Hoysala king Vira Ballala. According to legends, the king lost his way during his hunting in the forest. An old woman served him boiled beans and the happy king named the place Benda Kaalu Uru (The town of Boiled Beans). Bengaluru is its adaption. The Britishers anglicized the name to Bangalore. The city has now got its original name Bengaluru.

Holy Trinity Church, located at Trinity circle, is a major landmark in Bangalore. It was built in 1851. The church can accommodate 700 people. St. Mary's Basilica, the oldest church in Bangalore, has been elevated to the status of a minor basilica.
Bangalore has number of lakes and parks. Among the lakes are Ulsoor Lake and Sanky Tank. Boating facility is available in Ulsoor Lake. Lalbagh Botanical Garden has a lake in it. Cubbon Park is a major attraction for visitors. Seshadari Iyer Memorial building is situated in this Park. Built of red sand stone, it houses a public library and the Bengaluru High Court.

Agra, the erstwhile capital of the Mughal Emperors, is situated on the banks of the River Yamuna in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Agra, an ancient city of the past, is popularly known as the city of Taj. One of the earliest mentions of Agra can be found in the great Epic, The Mahabharata. Folklores acknowledge that Raja Badal Singh, a Sikarwar Rajput king, founded the city of Agra, in the year 1475. It is also said that the Fort Badalgarh had stood on or near the location of the present Agra Fort.
Nevertheless, the 11th century Persian poet Masood Sa'd Salman had written about a frantic attack on the fortress of Agra, by Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni. Sultan Sikandar Lodi of the Delhi Sultante was the firstof the rulers to move his capital from Delhi to Agra in the year 1506. When he died in 1517, his son Ibrahim Lodi continued to be in power at Agra for around nine more years, before finally being defeated at the Battle of Panipat in 1526.
Agra reached its height of its fame as the capital of the Mughal emperors from the year 1526 to 1658. Agra today is one of the major tourist destinations of the country mainly because of its numerous Mughal-era buildings. Among them, the most notable are the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. All these three sites of Agra have been listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites' list.
