Jaipur, a major tourist attraction for Indian and foreign travellers, is the first planned city in India. It is a part of the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Jaipur is called the Pink City as the buildings within the walled city are painted in pink. Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, got its name from its founder Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1744). Jaipur is known for its huge forts, palaces, temples, monuments and gardens. Among the forts, Amber Fort was the palace of the rulers from 1600 to 1727. The fort was built in Hindu-Muslim architectural style. The fort was named after the Goddess Amba. Sheesh Mahal, adorned with numerous mirror tiles on the walls and ceiling, is inside this fort. A short distance away from the Amba Fort lies the Jaigarh Fort. This fort is considered as the strongest among the three forts in the Pink City. Jaivana, world's largest cannon, is in this fort. Nahargarh Fort is the smallest among the three forts. Man Sagar Lake and the vast sprawl of Jaipur can be seen from this fort. The fort houses the Madhavendra Bhawan Palace. City Palace is an imposing structure built in traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture. The palace occupies one-seventh of the walled city. It houses several palatial structures like the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-e-Khas and the Diwan-e-Aam or Hall of Public Audience. Jal Mahal (Water Palace) is situated in the centre of the Mansarovar Lake. Among the temples, the star attraction is Govind Devji Temple. For the Vaishnavites, this is the most important temple in the world after Vrindavan. Moti Doongari temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesh, is located in the centre of the Pink City. Choose a Jaipur Package and visit the Lakshmi Narayan Temple (The Marble Temple), Akshardham Temple, Galwh Bagh (The Monkey Temple) and Surya Mandir (The Sun Temple). The Pink City has several monuments which attract large number of travellers. Among them Jantar Mantar is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was one of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh during the 18th century. Hawa Mahal (Palace of Breeze) was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Singh as part of City Palace. Gaitore is a royal cremation site of the royal rulers of jaipur. Jaipur has also several gardens and museums. Among them are Ram Niwas Garden, Zoological Garden, Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden, Vidyadhar Garden and Central Park. Jaipur is well connected by air, rail and road. Expectedly, Jaipur has a large number of hotels to accommodate various categories of travelers that provide you with the ideal Jaipur Package. Resplendent in its rich royal history, vivid traditions and ancient cultures, the city of Jaipur is perhaps one of the most prominent cities in the state of Rajasthan. Built by sawai Jai Singh in 1722, the city is one of the most important tourism industries in the state and even the country. The Pink City of Rajasthan boasts of a magnificent collection of palaces, forts, and other architecturally brilliant monuments. Situated about 260 km from the national capital city of Delhi, it is part of the popular tourism golden triangle comprising of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Famous for its palaces, forts and other monuments, one of the most prominent among Jaipur's palaces is the City Palace Complex. Situated right in the heart of the city, the complex consists of the Mubarak Mahal, once the palace of welcome or reception. The Mubarak Mahal is now a museum and has a wide array of ancient royal costumes, jewellery, Sanganeri prints and folk embroidery among others. Another prominent structure inside the complex is the Maharani's Palace, which was the Queen's palace and now houses an exquisite collection of the royal weapons preserved in impeccable conditions. The complex at present also houses an art gallery inside the Diwan-e-Aam (hall of public audience). Diwan-e-Khas (private hall) is a beautiful marble paved pavillion which has on display two gigantic silver sterling vessels, which held holy water from the Ganges for the king. It is rumoured that the king only drank from this holy water. The Palace cafe is a new age multi cuisine restaurant serving delicious food for the weary visitors. The royal family still occupies part of the Chandra Mahal palace whose ground floor is still open to visitors. Another very prominent attraction here is the Jantar Mantar, one of the five observatories in India. Built by Sawai Jai Singh, this structure is one of the largest and most well preserved ones in the country. Ram Niwas garden was a favourite spot during Sawai Jai Singh's reign for recreational activities. The famous Albert Hall is situated right in the middle of this large garden and displays a rich collection of art-de-facts paintings, exquisite carpets, sculptures made of ivory, stone and metal and even beautiful crystals. Sawai Pratap Singh built the famous Hawa Mahal also called palace of winds mainly for the royal ladies to view the everyday life of the people of the city. Today it is a very prominent feature of the city. The Amber Fort, situated just outside Jaipur is a blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Sawai Singh later. Nestled in the lush green valleys of the Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the later formed districts of Kerala. Wayanad district came into existence in 1980 with the headquarters at Kalpetta, carving out areas from Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Wayanad with its forest covered mountains and valleys, extensive jungle cover, flora and fauna, pristine waterfalls, crystal clear lakes and historic monuments is a tourist hot spot and one of the most visited districts in Kerala. Wayanad's strategic location has also been a boon for the tourism development in Wayanad. Wayanad lies on the border of the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, making it advantageously located near other tourist locations like Ooty, Mysore and Coorg. Its proximity to Bangalore also attracts a lot of tourists on the weekends. At a height of about 2100 metres, Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad and considered to be a trekkers' paradise. There is a lake at the summit which promises spectacular views from the top. Pakshipaathalam is also another favoured trekking destination. There is a natural rock cave in the Brahmagiri Hills that is also a favoured trekking destination. The 6 km trek from Tirunelli takes you through thick jungle. A lot of resorts and hotels can organise the treks. Sultan Bathery, a small town in Wayanad derives its name from the Nizam of Hyderabad, Tipu Sultan, who built a fort here that was known as Sultan's Battery, as he used this place to store ammunition. Pazhassi Raja, considered the 'Lion of Kerala', was the first to fight a guerrilla war against the British. In the memory of Pazhassi Raja a tomb has been built near Mananthavady in Wayanad. Muthanga and Tholpetty are two wildlife reserves in Wayanad that are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, which even include some endangered species. Believed to be in existence from the New Stone Age, Wayanad is full of archaeological sites as well. Edakkal caves, an ancient rock shelter, 4000 feet up the mountain, are famous for the rock art depicting human and animal carvings. Some of the most popular religious centers in Wayanad are Ananthanatha Swamy Temple, popularly referred to as the Jain Temple, the Tirunelli Temple, Papanasini, Valliyoorkavu Temple, Sita Lava Kusha Temple, Thrissilery Shiva Temple and the Pallikkunnu Church and is a must for the religiously fervent. Kuruva Island on the Kabini River is a relatively untouched mass of tropical forests that houses many exquisite varieties of flora and avifauna. Another popular attraction here is the Banasura Sagar Dam which is famous as the largest earth dam in India. Situated in the state of Kerala, the district of Wayand is known for its natural greenery and picturesque landscape. The name Wayanad is said to be derived from the word 'Vayal Nadu' which means paddy field. Pazhassi Raja, Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan had ruled the area and later the region came under the rule of the British. On November 1, 1980, Wayanad became a district which consists of three taluks namely Vythiri, Manathavadi and Sulthan Batheri. The cuisine of Wayanad is the typical Kerala food includes Rice, Avial, Sambar, Papadam and Payasam. Fish items are also served here. Onam is the main festival celebrated here with great enthusiasm. Mahashivatri is also celebrated here. The moderate climate of the area attracts the tourists from all over the country. During summers the maximum temperature reaches only up to 30 degree Celsius and the minimum falls to 10 degrees in the winters. October to May is the perfect time to visit the place. The nearest airport to the district of Wayanad is Karipur International Airport at Kozhikode which is 100 km away. The train connection is also from Kozhikode Railway station which is about 110 km away. Kerala State Road Transport Corporations's (KSRTC) buses are available to reach the nearby states.
