Intrapreneurship: The Way To Handle Millennials At The Workplace
Intrapreneurship is being hailed as the future of organizations which have employees with that entrepreneurial spark in them. While entrepreneurs are self-driven and look to spot big ideas and opportunities; the intrapreneur works with the same zeal and purpose, but within the organization. The intrapreneur, like the entrepreneur, is focused on creating new products and services, expanding the brand into different markets, and improving existing processes, making them more customer-friendly and thus complements the latter very effectively.
The entrepreneur usually runs the business, while the intrapreneur powers it from inside. Both types of people are highly motivated by their ideas and are passionate about them. In either case, it is the spirit of entrepreneurship that fires these individuals, whether from inside or outside. The role of the entrepreneur gets enlarged in that he or she has the responsibility of igniting the same spirit in an employee and make an intrapreneur out of her. A company that stimulates and encourages the intrapreneur is a high-growth organization because it accommodates two power centers –the ...
... entrepreneur and the intrapreneur.

The role of intrapreneurship in today’s corporate world
Intrapreneurship practices are a response to today’s rapidly changing marketplace. They are distinct from internal R and D and new product and market development, since they can offer faster response rate to challenges, being more keenly aware of changing customer needs.
This concept is all the more relevant in the American workplace, which is expected to see a surge in employing the Millennials, who are generally seen as being more restless and fast paced than the previous generation. It is estimated that Millennials will make up over a third of the workforce by 2017, and nearly half by 2020. They are free flying and hate being confined by bureaucratic sluggishness. In order to retain the dynamic employees of this generation, organizations are now creating a culture and incentives that allow for the entrepreneurial spirit within their existing business operations.
Research backs intrapreneurship strongly
The reason for the rise of intrapreneurship is best illustrated by Deloitte Millennial Survey released in January 2014. This survey found that seven out of 10 millennials see themselves working independently at some point. Further, most Millennials stick to companies for not more than two years because they feel that the company does not offer any more excitement. It is in this milieu that intrapreneurship becomes a perfect fit. It is the antidote to the young workforce that looks for independence, creativity, and exhilaration.
At this webinar session, Marcia will cover the following areas:
o Learn five practices that spark innovation throughout the company
o Discover why millennials are great candidates for intrapreneurship
o Recognize the type of culture that encourages innovation and intrapreneurship
o Review examples of intrapreneurship in large, medium and small size companies
o Identify seven entrepreneurial traits employees needs to be a successful intrapreneurs
o Cross the generational divide that often occur in a multi-generational workplace
