That is, do what fitness gurus call "training to failure," and work out a specific set of muscles until you literally can't repeat the exercise another time. Then drink some milk, or another supplement full of muscle-building nutrients. Research shows that this approach increases the rate at which you gain muscle mass.

Your fitness routine will be much more enjoyable if you have someone to share it with. Find a friend or family member who has the same fitness goals as you and work together. You will be able to encourage each other and offer a strong support system when the going gets tough.

Lifting weights is an excellent way to be fit. If you haven't lifted weights before, you should start out with something light, such as a one pound dumbbell. With the dumbbell, do a set of ten lifts or reps. If you can lift the dumbbell very easily, then you should move up to a heavier weight until you find one that provides enough resistance without being too heavy.

To keep your motivation going when it comes time to exercise, try paying your trainer in advance. With your hard-earned money in their hands, you should feel less likely to pull out of your workout session and feel more inclined to continue to see it through until you achieve your fitness goals.

Staying fit doesn't necessarily require a membership to the gym. Even with work and family obligations, it is still easy to squeeze a fitness routine into your week.
