The practise of Technical Translation is one of considerable importance as it concerns the translation of specialised Technical Documents produced by a number of technical writers (the most common form of which are owners' manuals and user guides) which detail highly technological subject matters as well as the application of technical and more general scientific information. This in turn emphasises the very important role played by Technical Translators in creating meanings for relevant words and phrases, regardless of whether they are practising technical translation in merely one language or in several.
Translators often choose to use either computer-assisted translation (CAT) or machine translation (MT) in performing their Technical Documents Service. Although some translators choose to complete the entirety of their translation activities without the use of MT or CAT software, this is only really done for the translation of documents which require a certain degree of creativity.
However, documents and content which concern matters relating to mechanics and engineering and which also contain frequently used and translated concepts and phrases are most frequently translated using the CAT and MT software.
