When was the last time you did something good for a stranger? We get so occupied thinking about ourselves, that we forget about the society. With Be An Elf program you get a chance to volunteer and make people happy. This program has been initiated by the United States Postal Service (USPS). The operation Santa program can only be found at the main mail processing branch. Check out the directory to find their nearest available office as they have started this program in a few rural branches as well.

If you're having a party at home this Christmas, there are lots of things you could do to bring joy into the lives of other people. All your guests could get a gift, wrap them together. Share the costs and also the joy that it brings. Make this Christmas a whole lot brighter for people less fortunate than you.

What is USPS operation Santa Claus all about? A needy kid will mention the gift they would love to receive this Christmas in their letters. Kids also write about the situation and circumstances they have to deal with. Don't worry these kids ask for basic items like ...
... clothes, socks and bags. Sometimes these kids have siblings include gifts for them too. Gift items such as scented candles and colognes can be added for the single mums.

The best part is that the volunteer numbers keep increasing steadily. They read the letters and determine if you actually need that gift or not. So, children who ask for X-boxes will not really inspire volunteers to help Santa mail those things. If you're thinking of donating new clothes and toys, find a post office that's closer to you. This is because the postal service removes the return addresses and replaces them with a code on each letter.

Gifts for children should be taken to the same post office from where you received the letter from the volunteer. If you're wondering what to gift, you can get them a warm sweatshirt, new shoes, a warm blanket, school supplies, canned food or anything they might use. Cash is not an option as Santa brings only gifts and spreads happiness all around.
This program helps getting a community closer. More the gifts, the USPS operation Santa Claus program expands building an army of volunteer elves. This Christmas put a smile on the faces of needy children along with their siblings and parents.

Be an elf program is an initiative taken up by the United States Postal Office (USPS). With the operation Santa program brings a smile on the faces of needy kids on Christmas morning.
