Domain expiration scams are a common tactic used by cybercriminals to exploit website owners and businesses. In these scams, the scammers send emails or letters to website owners, claiming that their domain name (for example: yourdomain.com) is about to expire and offer to renew it for a fee, often a rather high one. Unfortunately, these people have no means nor intention of actually renewing your domain. In the end, many people fall for these scams and end up paying for a nonexistent service. At MORBiZ, our clients have come to us after receiving snail mail and emails claiming their domains are going to expire. We'll explain how to spot this scam below, but first more about how they work.
