Store Review Data Scraping: India Retail Reputation Index 2026

India Retail Brand Reputation Index 2026: Google Maps Ratings by City from Store Review Data Scraping

Executive Summary

India's organised retail sector is expanding rapidly, and shoppers increasingly rely on Google Maps ratings and reviews before visiting stores. Ratings, review volumes, customer sentiment, and owner responses influence local reputation and purchasing decisions.

This report uses Store Review Data Scraping to develop an illustrative India Retail Brand Reputation Index across eight retail sectors and ten cities, using a sample of 12,000 stores and 1.8 million public reviews.

Key Findings:

The national median store rating is 4.1 stars, with a 0.6-star gap between the highest- and lowest-rated sectors.

Pharmacies and beauty stores rank highest, while electronics service centres and large-format grocery stores rank lowest.

Tier-2 cities record slightly higher ratings than metros, with fewer crowding complaints.

Billing queues and staff behaviour are the leading complaint themes.

Only 23% of negative reviews receive owner responses, while responsive stores demonstrate faster rating recovery.

Why Store Reviews Matter

Unlike periodic brand surveys, Google Maps reviews provide continuous customer feedback. Aggregated review intelligence helps retailers identify underperforming stores, track customer concerns, benchmark competitors, and evaluate response effectiveness.

Methodology

Coverage: Eight retail sectors across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Lucknow.

Data Collection: Store review data scraping captured:

Overall ratings, total reviews, and star distributions.

Reviews from the previous 12 months, including ratings, text, dates, languages, and owner responses.

Customer feedback without collecting reviewer identities.

AI Theme Classification: Reviews were classified into billing speed, staff behaviour, product availability, pricing, cleanliness, ambience, returns and exchanges, parking, service turnaround, and food quality.

The Reputation Index combines four components, each scaled from 0 to 100, to compare reputation across sectors and cities.

Key Findings

1. Sector Rankings

Service centres score lowest, with complaints primarily involving service turnaround times and communication. Low response rates further weaken customer confidence.

2. City Rankings

Metros generate more reviews per store but receive slightly lower ratings, largely due to crowding and billing queues. Tier-2 cities perform better on ratings but face more parking and product availability complaints.

3. National Complaint Themes

Billing delays and staff behaviour dominate customer feedback, highlighting opportunities for better staffing, training, and store operations.

4. Review Responses Improve Reputation

Stores responding to most negative reviews demonstrate stronger rating momentum in the sample. Responses communicate accountability and may encourage customers to update their feedback, although operational problems still require resolution.

5. Review Language

Approximately 82% of reviews are in English, 11% in Hindi, and 7% in other Indian languages. Regional-language reviews are more common in Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Multilingual analysis helps brands capture feedback that English-only monitoring misses.

6. Store-Level Rating Gaps

Within the same brand, rating differences between stores in one city often exceed one star. A brand averaging 4.1 stars may still have 15% of its stores below 3.7, weakening its local reputation.

7. Seasonal Patterns

Review volumes and queue-related complaints rise during festive periods. Preparing additional billing capacity and staff before peak seasons can help retailers maintain service quality.

Sample Store Data

{
 "sector": "Fashion and apparel",
 "brand_code": "FA-03",
 "store_code": "FA-03-PUN-012",
 "city": "Pune",
 "place_rating": 4.0,
 "total_reviews": 1530,
 "reviews_last_90d": 118,
 "avg_rating_last_90d": 3.8,
 "negative_share_last_90d": 0.21,
 "owner_response_rate_negative": 0.12,
 "top_negative_theme": "billing_speed",
 "collected_at": "2026-10-06"
}

What Retail Brands Should Do

Identify high-risk stores: Combine low ratings, negative review trends, and response rates into a store risk score.

Address recurring complaints: Prioritise staffing, billing speed, and employee training.

Respond promptly: Target replies to negative reviews within 48 hours.

Analyse multiple languages: Include Hindi and regional-language feedback.

Benchmark locally: Compare stores with competitors in the same mall or within a 2 km radius.

Mall operators, investors, franchise owners, and consultants can also use reputation intelligence to evaluate tenant performance, operational quality, and improvement opportunities.

TikTok Shop Data Scraping for a Social-Commerce Analytics Startup

TikTok Shop and Live-Stream Product Data for a Social-Commerce Startup: A TikTok Shop Data Scraping CaseÂStudy

The challenge

---

The client builds a dashboard that helps brands and sellers find trending products and understand what sells through social commerce. Two requests shaped the project. A US researcher asked iWeb Data Scraping for "TikTok live streaming product data to research user preferences." A Vietnamese team asked for "TikTok Shop and Shopee data" and later a Shopee dataset. The startup needed both: what sells on TikTok Shop, and how it compares with a classic marketplace.
Fast-moving trends. A product can go from unknown to sold out in days after a popular video or live stream.
Content-led discovery. Products are discovered through videos and live streams, not just search, so product data alone misses part of the story.
Sales indicators, not sales figures. Listings show "sold" counts or ranges, which need careful interpretation.
Cross-platform comparison. The same product may sell on TikTok Shop and Shopee at different prices and volumes.

What weÂbuilt

Step 1: Category and market scope
Together with the client, iWeb Data Scraping selected categories with strong social-commerce activity: beauty and personal care, fashion accessories, home and kitchen gadgets, and phone accessories.
Step 2: Product and shop collection
For each category, collectors captured product title, price, original price, discount, displayed sold count, rating, review count, shop name, shop rating, shipping information and product images.
Step 3: Live-stream product signals
For selected public live streams in scope, the products featured during the stream and their displayed prices were recorded with timestamps. No viewer or personal data was collected.
Step 4: Shopee comparison
In Vietnam, matching products on Shopee were identified by title, brand and image similarity, and their prices and sold counts were collected for comparison.
Step 5: Trend scoring
A trend score combined sold-count growth, review growth and live-stream appearances over seven days, highlighting products gaining momentum.
Results

Products tracked daily: 85,000 products across two markets, enabling large-scale monitoring.
Trending products surfaced weekly: 300-400 products identified for trend analysis.
Cross-platform product matching: 62% of top Vietnamese products matched across TikTok Shop and Shopee.
Dashboard launch: Completed within six weeks of kick-off.
The startup launched a "Rising on TikTok Shop" feature for its customers, and a cross-platform view that shows sellers where a product sells for less or more on Shopee. Brands using the dashboard reported faster decisions about which products to push in their own live streams.
How it's delivered

The record below is illustrative.
{
 "platform": "tiktok_shop",
 "market": "US",
 "product_id": "TTS-1730048812",
 "title": "Portable Mini Blender, USB Rechargeable",
 "category": "Home & Kitchen > Small Appliances",
 "price_usd": 24.99,
 "original_price_usd": 39.99,
 "sold_display": "12.4K sold",
 "sold_estimate": 12400,
 "rating": 4.6,
 "review_count": 2180,
 "shop_name": "Example Home Store",
 "shop_rating": 4.7,
 "live_stream_appearances_7d": 9,
 "trend_score": 87,
 "collected_at": "2026-10-05"
}

Skincare: Median price is 189,000 VND on TikTok Shop vs. 205,000 VND on Shopee, with 34% of products trending only on TikTok Shop.
Phone accessories: Median price is 79,000 VND on TikTok Shop vs. 75,000 VND on Shopee, with 18% of products trending only on TikTok Shop.
Kitchen gadgets: Median price is 129,000 VND on TikTok Shop vs. 139,000 VND on Shopee, with 41% of products trending only on TikTok Shop.
Fashion accessories: Median price is 99,000 VND on TikTok Shop vs. 109,000 VND on Shopee, with 29% of products trending only on TikTok Shop.
How the product team uses the data eachÂweek

Brands check which competing products are rising and adjust their own live-stream line-ups.
Sellers compare prices with Shopee before setting TikTok Shop promotions.
Agencies pitch creators with evidence of which product types perform in live streams.
Product sourcing teams spot gadgets and beauty items gaining momentum early enough to stock them.

The client also added a weekly "category heat map" that shows which sub-categories are growing fastest on TikTok Shop compared with Shopee, helping brands decide where to invest content budgets.
The outcome

Sold counts are indicators. Displayed counts are rounded and cumulative; growth over time is more useful than a single value.
Live-stream signals add context. Products repeatedly featured in live streams often trend a few days later.
Cross-platform matching reveals pricing strategy. Some sellers price lower on TikTok Shop to win traffic.

Google Maps Review Scraping for Multi-Location Retail Brands

Google Maps Review Scraping for Multi-Location Retail Brands

Google Maps reviews reveal what customers think about individual stores, from slow billing and poor product availability to helpful staff and excellent service. For brands operating hundreds of locations, manually monitoring thousands of reviews is difficult. Google Maps review scraping transforms public store reviews into structured data for location-level reputation monitoring, customer experience analysis, and operational improvements.

In September 2026, an AI analytics company requested Google Maps reviews across Indian retail stores, while a strategy consultancy sought city-wise outlet counts and rating distributions. Both requirements highlight the growing need for scalable review intelligence.

Why Store-Level Reviews Matter

Footfall: Customers compare ratings before visiting stores.

Local SEO: Ratings, review counts, and recency can influence local visibility.

Operational insights: Reviews reveal billing delays, staffing issues, and stock shortages.

Competitive benchmarking: Compare nearby stores to identify experience gaps.

What Data Can Be Collected?

Store Data: Place name, address, coordinates, category, overall rating, review count, and opening hours.

Review Data: Star rating, review text, date, language, owner response, response date, and photo count.

Aggregated Metrics: Rating distribution, review velocity, sentiment, and recurring complaint themes.

iWeb Data Scraping focuses on public store and review content, excluding or anonymising reviewer identities by default.

How Google Maps Review Scraping Works

Step 1: Build the Store List
Match store codes, addresses, and coordinates with Google Maps listings. Flag duplicate, outdated, or unmatched locations.

Step 2: Collect Store Metrics
Capture ratings, review counts, and star distributions regularly to track reputation changes.

Step 3: Extract Reviews
Collect available review history initially, then retrieve new reviews during subsequent updates.

Step 4: Apply AI Analysis
Classify reviews into themes such as billing speed, staff behaviour, pricing, cleanliness, product availability, returns, and parking. Sentiment analysis supports multilingual reviews written in English, Hindi, and regional languages.

Step 5: Deliver Dashboards and Alerts
Provide recurring data feeds, city-level dashboards, store rankings, and alerts for sudden rating declines.

Sample Data and City-Level Insights

The following figures are illustrative.

A sample record may include a fashion store in Bengaluru with a 4.1 rating, 2,874 total reviews, and a recent two-star review mentioning a 25-minute billing queue. AI analysis identifies billing speed and staffing as key complaint themes.

Illustrative city-level findings:

Bengaluru: 42 stores, average rating 4.2, and 14% negative reviews. Billing speed is the leading complaint.

Mumbai: 51 stores, average rating 4.0, and 18% negative reviews. Trial rooms are the top concern.

Delhi NCR: 58 stores, average rating 3.9, and 21% negative reviews. Staff behaviour is the leading issue.

Hyderabad: 27 stores, average rating 4.3, and 11% negative reviews. Parking is the main complaint.

These examples demonstrate how brands can compare customer experiences across locations.

Turning Reviews Into Action

Rank stores by risk: Prioritise locations experiencing sudden rating declines.

Resolve recurring issues: Address billing queues, staffing gaps, and availability problems.

Track response rates: Monitor how consistently stores respond to customer feedback.

Recognise positive experiences: Identify reviews highlighting excellent service.

Benchmark competitors: Compare nearby stores to understand local performance gaps.

Review Velocity and Reputation Dashboards

Review velocity measures how quickly new reviews appear. Sudden increases combined with negative sentiment can signal service problems, incidents, promotions, or reopening-related activity.

Dashboards can provide:

Executives: Brand-wide and regional reputation summaries.

Regional managers: Store rankings and locations requiring attention.

Store managers: Recent reviews and actionable feedback.

Operations teams: Trends in billing speed, cleanliness, and availability.

Marketing teams: Review response tracking and reputation monitoring.

How AI Improves Review Analysis

AI models identify themes and sentiment across different languages, spelling variations, and informal expressions. For example, a review stating 'bahut bheed thi, billing me 20 min laga' can be classified under crowding and billing speed.

Automated summaries help managers understand recurring problems without manually reading every review.

Industries That Benefit

Fashion: Trial rooms, size availability, and returns.

Electronics: Staff knowledge, pricing, and service delays.

Supermarkets: Freshness, stock availability, and checkout speed.

Myntra Review Scraping: Review Trend Tracking for a D2C Label

Review Trend Tracking on Myntra for a D2C Apparel Label: A Myntra Review Scraping CaseÂStudy
Myntra review scraping helped a D2C apparel label track customer sentiment by product and month, find fit and fabric issues and cut size-related returns.

---

The challenge

The client is a fast-growing D2C label that sells most of its volume through Myntra. Its team asked iWeb Data Scraping a simple question: "We need our brand's customer reviews and how they are shaping over time." Ratings had slipped slightly over two seasons, returns were rising, and the team could not tell whether the cause was fit, fabric, colour accuracy or delivery.
Reading reviews manually on the marketplace was slow, and the seller dashboard did not show trends by product, theme or month.
Volume. The brand had more than 1,200 live styles with thousands of reviews between them.
Short, mixed-language text. Many reviews were brief ("size runs small", "colour different") or written in Hinglish.
Linking reviews to product attributes. To act, the team needed to know which fabrics, fits and categories drew complaints.
Competitor context. A 4.0 rating means little without knowing how comparable brands perform in the same category.

What weÂbuilt

Step 1: Product list and attributes
iWeb Data Scraping collected all live styles for the brand and five competitors, with category, fabric, fit, colour, price and size range.
Step 2: Review collection
For each style, collectors captured public star ratings, review text, review date, size purchased where shown, and helpful votes. Reviewer names were excluded.
Step 3: Theme and sentiment tagging
Each review was tagged with themes using an AI classifier trained on fashion vocabulary, including Hinglish: fit (too small, too large, length), fabric (thin, see-through, rough, shrinkage), colour (different from image, fading), stitching and finish, comfort, value for money, and delivery or packaging.
Step 4: Trend tables
Ratings and theme shares were calculated by month, category, fabric and fit, for the brand and for each competitor.
Step 5: Alerts
Any style whose rolling 30-day rating fell below 3.8, or where "size runs small" exceeded 25% of reviews, triggered an alert to the product team.
Results

Reviews analysed: 48,000 in the first run, providing a broad customer-feedback dataset.
Styles flagged for fit issues: 37 styles identified for potential improvements.
Size-related feedback: "Size runs small" mentions in women's dresses decreased from 22% to 9% after the size-chart fix.
Average rating improvement: Fixed styles gained +0.3 stars over three months.
The biggest finding was that one rayon dress block ran small across 37 styles. The team updated its size chart, added a "size up" note on product pages, and corrected the pattern for the next production run. Returns linked to fit fell noticeably in the following season. A second finding, that two colours looked brighter in photos than in reality, led to a change in product photography.
How it's delivered

The record below is illustrative.

Women's dresses: Brand rating is 3.9 vs. competitor median 4.1. The top complaint is fit too small, mentioned in 22% of reviews.
Women's tops: Brand rating is 4.2 vs. competitor median 4.1. The main complaint is colour different, appearing in 9% of reviews.
Men's shirts: Brand rating is 4.0, matching the competitor median. The primary complaint is fabric thin, mentioned in 11% of reviews.
Men's joggers: Brand rating is 4.3 vs. competitor median 4.0. The main complaint is length too short, appearing in 6% of reviews.
How the product team uses the data eachÂweek

Every Monday, the product team receives a short report with four parts: styles that crossed an alert threshold, the top three complaint themes by category, new themes that appeared for the first time, and positive themes worth using in marketing copy (for example, "soft fabric" and "true to colour"). The design team uses the fit data when grading new patterns, and the photography team checks colour complaints before each shoot. Customer support uses the same theme tags to prepare answers to common questions on product pages.
The outcome

Reviews linked to attributes showed patterns no single review could reveal.
Hinglish-aware tagging captured complaints that keyword searches would miss.

India Retail Brand Reputation Index 2026: Google Maps Ratings by City from Store Review Data Scraping
India Retail Brand Reputation Index 2026 Google Maps Ratings By City From Store
Executive summary
India's organised retail has expanded from metros into hundreds of towns, and shoppers increasingly check Google Maps before visiting a store. A store's rating, its review count and the tone of recent reviews now shape footfall as much as signage does. Yet most brands still look at reviews one store at a time.

This report uses Store Review Data Scraping across Google Maps to build an India Retail Brand Reputation Index. It compares store ratings, review volume, complaint themes and owner response rates across eight retail sectors and ten cities, based on an illustrative sample of 12,000 stores and 1.8 million public reviews.

Key illustrative findings:

The national median store rating is 4.1, but the gap between the best and worst sectors is 0.6 stars.
Pharmacies and beauty stores rate highest; electronics service and large-format grocery rate lowest.
Tier-2 cities rate slightly higher than metros for the same brands, with fewer complaints about crowding.
Billing queues and staff behaviour are the top two complaint themes nationally.
Only 23% of negative reviews receive an owner response, and stores that respond show faster rating recovery.
Why store reviews deserve an index
Brand-level surveys run once or twice a year. Store reviews arrive every day, from real customers, at every location. Aggregated, they show:

Which stores, cities and regions are improving or slipping.
Which operational issues matter most to customers.
How a brand compares with competitors in the same street or mall.
Whether management responses are working.
An index makes these signals comparable over time and across sectors.

Methodology
Sectors and stores

The illustrative sample covers eight sectors, with multiple national and regional brands in each:

Sector	Example store types
Fashion and apparel	Value fashion, premium fashion, footwear
Electronics retail	Large-format electronics, mobile stores
Supermarkets and hypermarkets	Large-format grocery, neighbourhood supermarkets
Pharmacies	Chain pharmacies
Beauty and personal care	Beauty retail chains
QSR and cafÃs	Burger, pizza and coffee chains
Home and furniture	Furniture and home decor stores
Electronics service centres	Brand-authorised service centres
Cities

Ten cities were included: Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Lucknow.

Data collection

Store review data scraping collected, for each store's Google Maps listing:

Overall rating and total review count.
Rating distribution from one to five stars.
Public reviews from the last 12 months: star rating, text, date, language and whether the owner responded.
Reviewer identities were not collected.

Theme classification

Each review was classified by an AI model into one or more themes: billing speed, staff behaviour, product availability, pricing, cleanliness, store ambience, returns and exchange, parking and access, service turnaround (for service centres) and food quality (for QSR).

Index construction

The Reputation Index for each sector or city combines four components, each scaled to 0 to 100:

Component	Weight	Measure
Rating level	40%	Median store rating
Rating momentum	20%	Change in average rating of reviews over the last 90 days vs the previous 90 days
Complaint share	25%	Share of reviews with negative sentiment (inverted)
Response rate	15%	Share of negative reviews with an owner response
Key findings
1. Sector ranking

Sector	Median rating	Negative review share	Owner response rate	Reputation Index
Pharmacies	4.4	9%	31%	78
Beauty and personal care	4.3	11%	36%	76
QSR and cafÃs	4.2	15%	28%	69
Home and furniture	4.2	14%	22%	67
Fashion and apparel	4.1	16%	24%	64
Supermarkets and hypermarkets	4.0	19%	18%	58
Electronics retail	4.0	18%	20%	58
Electronics service centres	3.8	31%	14%	41
Service centres score lowest by a wide margin. Their reviews are dominated by turnaround time and communication complaints, and response rates are low.

2. City ranking

City	Median rating	Reviews per store (12 months)	Top complaint theme	Reputation Index
Jaipur	4.3	140	Parking and access	72
Lucknow	4.2	120	Billing speed	70
Ahmedabad	4.2	135	Product availability	69
Pune	4.2	160	Billing speed	67
Hyderabad	4.2	175	Parking and access	67
Chennai	4.1	150	Staff behaviour	64
Kolkata	4.1	130	Product availability	63
Bengaluru	4.1	210	Billing speed	62
Mumbai	4.0	230	Crowding and billing	59
Delhi NCR	4.0	240	Staff behaviour	58
Metros generate more reviews per store but slightly lower ratings, mainly because of crowding and billing queues at peak times. Tier-2 cities rate higher, though complaints about parking and product availability are more common.
