Textile Engineering: The Soul Of Indian Textile Industry

Indian Textile Industry is one of the oldest industry in the history of India. The Textiles were being exported from India to the other areas of the world especially in the medieval Europe since the 17th century. Under the British rule, the India textile industry had seen the worst time. The Britishers had made some policy changes which resulted in the downfall of the Indian Textile Industry. They had increased the tax on exports of the finished textiles goods from India and rather drained the raw cotton from India and in return flooded the Indian markets with the machine made finished goods imported from the Britain. The condition of the textile industry got worse after the partition of India in 1947 when the bulk area of cotton cultivation went to the Pakistan.(read
