Causes And Home Remedies For Eczema
The real cause of dermatitis or eczema is unknown for most of the people. There is an abnormal function in the immune system, and that when confronted by some external influence, the reaction occurs. Some forms of eczema can be brought on by substances that make skin contact. Things such as clothing, soaps, jewelry, sweat and cosmetics may be cause for eczema. Environmental allergens and psychological stress can be the trigger for an eczema outbreak.
Home remedies have no side effects and they are completely safe for using even on children. When children have eczema, it is very painful for them. And if they are not treated on time, it can create problem for a long time to come.
Home Remedies for Eczema
If you suffer from allergic skin conditions such as eczema, cold showers can be give good relief. It reduces blood flow in the skin which in turn reduces the dreadful, constant, itch.
Try cool, damp compresses to itchy skin. Methods for cool compress: Cloth soaked in cold water that is wrung out and applied at once to the skin that itches. It may create intense itching at first, but this will soon subsides ...
... and the itching is relieved. You can use petroleum jelly onto the skin before applying the cool compress. It helps to moisturize the skin. The frequency of cold compress is depending upon the type of eczema and severity.
Scratching may be dangerous in this case. Avoid scratching, this can produce scarring and infection. Instead of scratching, you can lightly pat the skin with your fingers (as opposed to the palm of your hand) as this is more helpful.
If your skin is irritated and inflamed, do not try hot showers and baths. If you are used to take hot baths, reduce the temperature and keep it slightly warm. Avoid hot rooms which can worsen your skin condition.
Rehydrating your skin is one of the crucial actions in preventing itching and scratching, as well as reducing flare-ups. Keep away from moisturizers that include preservatives, chemicals and perfumes which can irritate the skin. Herbal moisturizers should be applied at least twice a day all over the skin to reduce the eczema.
Do not use commercial soaps and detergents which may contain properties which can worsen your skin condition. Always try to use herbal products and soaps in this condition. Detergent based shampoo and soap should be avoided.
