Volocopter Wins Over Young Hearts With First Osaka & Hyogo Flight

Urban air mobility pioneer Volocopter has successfully completed a multi-day flight test campaign with a crewed 2X aircraft in Osaka and Amagasaki, Japan. The testing, conducted from December 7 to 13, serves as preparation for the 2025 World Exposition, Osaka Kansai EXPO. The tests aimed to acclimate the crew, test communications tools, and establish flight test procedures under conditions similar to those expected during the EXPO.

The campaign, co-hosted by Sumitomo Corporation, Volocopter's strategic partner and investor in Japan, involved local dignitaries, partners, media, and over 200 local students in a Q&A session. Volocopter aims to showcase its commercial air taxi, the VoloCity, at the 2025 EXPO, contributing to public awareness of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in Japan. The company received subsidies from Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, Hyogo Prefecture, and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) for this campaign.
