The TAQA (Training, Assessment, Quality Assurance) is a suite of qualifications. If you want to work as a trainer or teacher in UK, then you have to achieve one of the training qualifications of TAQA. The ‘Assessor’ qualifications of TAQA are for individuals who want to evaluate the occupational competence in different types of work environment. The ‘Quality Assurance’ qualifications of TAQA are for the individuals who want to assure the quality of assessment. You will learn to plan, allocate and observe the work within your area of responsibility after achieving any of the IQA qualifications which are Level-4 qualifications.
There are four assessor qualifications and three quality assurance qualifications within TAQA suite. The CAVA is considered to be the most comprehensive Level 3 Assessor TAQA Course amongst all courses. The rest of the assessor courses are ACWE, UPPA and AVRA. The A1 Assessor TAQA course was replaced (December, 2010) by CAVA (Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement) which is a Level-3 qualification under TAQA suite of qualifications. The ‘Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement’ course consists of three units.
Understanding the principles as well as the practices of assessment
Assessing the occupational competence of individuals within a work environment
Assessing the vocational knowledge, skills and understanding of individuals
CAVA is considered to be a comprehensive qualification if you want to work as a certified assessor. It allows you to assess learners’ skills and knowledge within a workplace and learning environment. You also need to achieve CAVA qualification if you want to become a NVQ assessor.
