Humanity is going through unprecedented times. The coronavirus lockdown and the news, along with the uncertainty and ambiguity can have a negative impact on your mental state. Along with following a simple timetable, doing household works and exercise here are five positive things that lockdown in India has given us.

Decline in crime rates
It’s been 53 days since the Centre put in place a stringent national lockdown as part of efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. As of Thursday, over 70,000+ people have been hospitalised with the infection, accounting for just over 2500 deaths. The pandemic has affected all ways of life, forcing the biggest lockdown in history with billions of people advised to stay indoors. But an unintended consequence of the lockdown has been a fall in the number of crimes reported across India. There has been a 42% drop in crime rate since March 15. According to data shared by the police,1,990 cases have been registered from March 15 to 31 as against 3,416 cases during the same period last year. Telangana has recorded an almost 60 per cent drop in crime rate in the state ...
... during the lockdown. According to the data obtained by IE, the state has registered 16,942 cases between March 22 and April 22 in 2019. However, this number has now come down to only 6,923 in the same period.crimes scenes

Ban of use of smokeless tobacco products and spitting in public places
The government has banned spitting in public places under the Disaster Management Act. The move has come after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued fresh guidelines for the second phase of lockdown to contain coronavirus in the country. Under the consolidated revised guidelines, spitting has been made punishable with a fine under Section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act.

Refusal to comply with the government orders under the Disaster Management Act may result in imprisonment up to one year or a fine, or both, the directives said.

Air Pollution In North India Has Now Hit A 20-Year Low
During a nationwide coronavirus lockdown, air pollution in the region has dropped to a 20-year low, according to data published by NASA.According to the report: “AOD levels in northern India at the beginning of April were significantly below the norm for this time of year and the lowest in 20 years of MODIS observations. Ground observation stations in India have also reported a decrease in particle pollution in the region”.The drop in pollution levels comes as India enters its seventh week of lockdown. On March 25, the Indian government imposed a strict nationwide lockdown halting all construction activities, public transport and industry. India isn’t the only place to see cleaner air. Lockdowns restricting travel and industry imposed to halt the spread of coronavirus have resulted in unprecedented reductions in deadly air pollution around the world, new analysis shows.

Introduction to basics of Hygiene and Sanitation
The pandemic has taken us all back to elementary school and its teachings. If you are sitting at home (and working from home, if you are lucky), you have stocked up enough supplies to last a month or two in case of an emergency and have at least one sanitizer each for each family member in the house. In short, you are all set to battle at least a month or two of uncertainty and dread. Handwashing has become a necessity to ensure that everyone who knocks your door washes his/her hands fervently before touching anything else. You may keep a sanitizer outside your home for this purpose. You also need to sanitize yourself after collecting whatever you were supposed to take to keep the germs out.
