Microsoft Team is a great platform to interact with your colleagues, but this isn’t the only thing people use Microsoft Team. When you are work from home, you can share documents and files and collaborate with them in real-time on Microsoft Team. The procedure of uploading and sharing files of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or Word is simple, but Microsoft Team has its own method of doing it. Microsoft Team uses SharePoint and OneDrive for doing all these things, and if anyone hasn’t used these platforms before, they might see it a little tricky. However, learning these procedures is not impossible to learn, and here you can learn how to uploading and managing the files by using Microsoft Team.


How does File Storage Works in v Microsoft Team

On the Microsoft Team, there are majorly two variants of storage included which is OneDrive and SharePoint for the business.

OneDrive

If you are willing to share any kind of file to any user or users, you will find the file in the Team’s OneDrive account for the business folder, and then you need to follow these steps:

Launch “Microsoft Team.”

Press on “OneDrive.”
Tap on the Folder that has the files.
Tap to Open file.
SharePoint

Launch “Microsoft Team.”
Tap on “Files.”
Tap on the “Microsoft Team.”
You can also tap on three dots icon to reveal some options to view the file online or download and then get the link of the file to share it with any other user.

After following these procedures, the following file will be visible on the right side, and if you are not able to see it, then just refresh it.

How to Upload the Files on Microsoft Team

The uploading files procedure is completely straightforward, the restrictions and the chat will be quite different if you are trying to chat or use the following channels.

Upload the files to Microsoft Team Folder

Even if you are getting the option of manage files in SharePoint through “Files” tab, you will not be able to upload the files from the following interface. After the fact, you can only upload the files directly into the group channel.

Launch “Microsoft Team.”
Tap on “Teams.”
Choose the channel of team.
Tap on “Attach” icon into the message section.
Tap on “Upload from my computer” section.
Choose the file.
Press the “Open” icon box.
Hit on “Send” button.
By following these steps, you will successfully able to send files on the following channel that will be visible to everyone in channel and also appear in the “Microsoft Team” sections of the “Files.”

Upload File to OneDrive Folder

On the OneDrive, you can easily upload the files into the folders directly by utilizing “Files” tab. Whoever adds these files these will available to that specific user. If you send any file in the chat privately to any user, it will appear in the folder but only visible to you.

Launch the “Microsoft Team.”
Tap on “Chat.”
Choose a new chat option or go with a recent chat.
Tap on “Attach” button from the message option.
Hit on “Upload from my computer” section or use it from OneDrive if the file is already uploaded.
Choose the file.
Press “Open” button.
Hit “Send” button.
By following these steps, the other participants will be able to access the file from the history of chat. You can access these files from the OneDrive folder from the “Files” section.

Upload Files Directly Instead of Sharing

Launch the “Microsoft Team.”
Tap on “Files.”
Hit on “OneDrive” tab.
Tap on “Upload” button.
Choose the file.
Tap the “Open” icon box.
Download the Files

After the files are stored in the drive, you can always download them when you want as long as you can see those files.

Launch “Microsoft Team.”
Choose the file and tap on the three-dot icon.
Choose the “Download” section.
After downloading the file, you will be able to see it inside the download folder.

How to Add the Cloud Storage on Microsoft Team

You can add more cloud storage platforms like ShareFile, Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive.

Launch “Microsoft Team.”
Tap on “Files.”
Tap on “add” cloud storage” option.
Choose the service.
Confirm the account with proper information.
Hit the “Next” icon.
Verify the password.
It the “Sign in” icon.
Confirm the “two-factor authentication” secure code.
Tap “Done.”
Tap “Allow.”
From these following steps, you will be able to add more additional storage accounts. You can share these files, download these files or upload more files. These files will be kept secure and safe.
